Consultant Daniel Richards
Dan was super smart, knowledgable and helpful throughout the process. He helped me brainstorm essay topics, edited and proofread my essays, helped revamp my resume and provided general guidance along the way. He helped me better understand how the admissions committee thinks and how they would view the application. This was especially helpful because I was somewhat of a nontraditional applicant. He was super responsive to my emails. And he's just a cool guy. Very genuine and easy to connect with.
At the end of the day, I'm not sure I should have worked with an Admissions Consultant at all. Not because Dan wasn't great. He was! But I already knew a lot from reading books and blogs about the process, and talking to students, alumni, and others. So I was pretty well informed. I think I could have gone through the process without a consultant and received the same results.
Great experience. Very smart, thoughtful students. Not necessarily the vapid corporate types you find at a lot of business schools. Strong social sector community, but most of the class still ends up in private sector jobs. Consulting, banking, tech, the usual. Strong LGBTQ scene. Highest proportion of self-identified LGBTQ students of all of the top business schools.
SOM is very integrated into the rest of the university as well. You can take classes at law school, environmental science school, health, undergrad. Strong community.
New Haven is okay. Lots of restaurants and bars. I like the being in New Haven forces business school students to be involved and engaged with each other and campus life.
Interpersonal Dynamics is a must. Competitive Strategy with Fiona Scott Morton.
