Date: February 2025 Interviewer: Second-Year Student Format: Virtual (Zoom) Duration: ~45 minutes Interview Experience: My Booth interview was conducted by a second-year student and was overall a structured, but somewhat frustrating experience. The interviewer did not have a background in my field, which led to several moments of disconnect during our conversation. Throughout the interview, I noticed that she zoned out multiple times and even yawned on a few occasions, which made the interaction feel disengaged. Additionally, she frequently interrupted my responses and asked me to repeat answers, even for relatively simple concepts. This made it difficult to build a natural flow in the conversation. What stood out the most was that instead of focusing on my MBA goals and candidacy, the interviewer seemed more interested in extracting solutions for my startup idea. I felt like I was being asked for insights rather than being assessed for my fit with Booth, which left me feeling uneasy. Overall, the interview was not a positive experience—it felt more like an obligation for the interviewer rather than an opportunity to truly assess my fit for Booth. I was expecting a more engaging and structured conversation based on other Booth interview reports, but unfortunately, that was not the case for me. Questions Asked: Tell me about yourself. Why MBA? Why Booth? What are your short-term and long-term goals? Tell me about a challenge you faced at work. How do you work with people from diverse backgrounds? What happens if you don’t get into any business school? (This question felt unnecessary and condescending.) What is your startup idea, and what solutions have you considered? (This line of questioning seemed more for her personal curiosity rather than for assessing my MBA candidacy.) Final Thoughts: While I tried to keep my energy and focus up, the interviewer’s lack of engagement and technical understanding made it difficult to have a meaningful conversation. Unlike other Booth interview experiences I’ve read about, mine did not feel warm or conversational. That said, I understand that Booth evaluates candidates holistically, and a single interviewer’s feedback is only one component of the decision process. I appreciate the opportunity to interview, but I wish the experience had been more aligned with the school’s otherwise strong reputation for thoughtful interactions. Read Less

Very conversational discussion with an alumni. Skipped resume walkthrough and built in a lot more time for the interpersonal questions. Make sure to prep for as many of those as you can. Questions were: Why MBA? Why now? Why Booth? What do you want to get involved with and how do you want to contribute at Booth? Tell me about a time you faced a challenge working in a team. Tell me about a time you had to ask for help. Also tell me about a time you had to help someone else at work. Tell me about areas of improvement you’ve had to work on. How would your co-workers and boss describe you? Ask me any questions about Booth and MBA programs. Read Less

The interview was pretty conversational and relaxed. She didn't go too deep into any of my answers but kept following up with an agreement to my statement or a short anecdote of her own. The questions I can remember are 1)Why MBA 2) Why now? 3) Why Booth? 4) How will you contribute to Booth? 5) TMAT when you had to deal with a challenge at work in a team 6) TMAT when you had to oppose someone at work This lasted about 30 mins and then we had 5-10 minutes for me to ask her questions. She answered my questions enthusiastically and frankly. Overall good experience and nothing to be intimidated about. One should just have their own story and motivations very straight and then I don't think it should be a problem. Read Less

It was a very nice experience. The interviewer was very friendly, and the interview was very conversational. It lasted roughly 50 minutes. These were the questions that were asked: - Introduction - What kind of team do you work with best? What kind of roles do you shine the most? - Long Term Goals & Short Term Goals? - Why MBA? Why Booth? The only advice I can give to future applicants is to think of it as more of a conversation rather than an interview. Don't overprepare - as that might make you robotic, instead think of it like talking to a friend who is curious about why you are doing an MBA or what are your plans. You know your life, you can answer any question that will be asked. Make it like a conversation and you will do just fine. That's what I did and my interview was better than I could have ever imagined. All the best, y'all! :) Read Less
