Say 10 yrs ago, Jimmy was M yrs old. Then 10 yrs ago, John's age was 3M.

After 25 years (10 previous yrs + 15 future yrs), Jimmy will be M + 25 and John will be 3M + 25

Given: (3M + 25) = (4/3)*(M + 25)

9M + 75 = 4M + 100
M = 5
3M = 15
Sum of their ages 10 yrs ago was 5+15 = 20
Sum of their present ages = 20+10+10 = 40

Answer (D)

What is the question source? Use of 'hence' is awkward.
