Mumbai Test Center - Andheri

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

I had my GMAT on 21 July 2017. Had booked an appointment 3 months in advance. The place is somewhat difficult to get into. It is located inside a corporate park. It is advisable to reach the center atleast 1 hour before your scheduled time. I reached at 11.45 am for 1pm appointment. They let me in at 12.00 pm. There is no provision to wait outside the center. Be aware of that and dont turn up too early. After letting me in the staff explained to me the basic rules of GMAT test centers. The staff was warm, welcoming and polite. Restrooms were clean and tidy. Lockers were not too big, not tiny either. They would just fit you backpack, if its folded onto itself. DO NOT CARRY you books and other materials.
ONE disappointment was that since i started with my V-Q-IR-AWA, i did not use up my scratch pad in Verbal. However, I was not given a fresh scratch pad for Quant and the staff suggested that i should first use up the Scratchpad , only then I would get a new one. This was contrary to my belief that fresh scratch pad can be accessed as per your wish. Alter your strategy accordingly.

All in all my experience was pleasant and I will definitely recommend the center to people.

Do they provide test takers with ear plugs? If you could tell us about the quality of the same.
Also, what's the average time one takes to leave the seat and get back in during the optional break?

@akshay0906
They do provide generic ear plugs. Cant comment on quality, I myself did not use them. Apart from the ear plugs, they have those heavy headphones, which are excellent for noise cancellation, incase you are next to someone who's attempting AWA.
The average time to leave your seat after raising your hand is 30 sec. The supervisors are prompt and helpful. Luckily the place isnt too big. You can easily have washroom break, have food, relax a minute or two and be back at your place within 8 min.
All the best.

Hey @fitzpratik
Can you please tell me that was there any disturbance while you were giving your exam? As you didn't use the earplugs provided by them. Is it a quiet place?

@aalekhoza
The place is quite enough. It's located at the ground floor of a business Park. Only disturbance at the exam venue may come from another candidate attempting AWA
Cheers!

Course Magoosh Premium

Location Online

I have taken the Magoosh Premium subscription form Nov 2016.
I have not been disappointed.
The lessons are complete and they try to break down each and every concept so that everyone could understand it.
The practice problems can be tailored to suit your preparations.
They provide some (not many) shortcut approach to solving quant. It is a comprehensive course with excellent synthetic question bank. It has a very comprehensive question bank with 500+ questions in both Verbal and Quant. EVERY question comes with a video explanation, which I think is not mirrored anywhere else. Apart from their online course, Magoosh has an array of mobile apps (Android, dunno about IOS) which can make learning fun while commuting from work. Add to that a robust email based support system, you can hardly go wrong.
NOW, The deficits:
1. The verbal course, SC is not as good for a non native speaker as some other courses are. Critical reasoning is average, not comprehensive.
2. Quant does not focus on what gmat focuses on. No special emphasis on number properties, statistics, etc.
3. The questions are not characterized by the scores they reflect. They are grouped into Easy, Medium, Hard, Very Hard.

All in all its a good course to start your preparation with, but somewhere down the line, you will require a booster.

Course e-GMAT Online Intensive

Location Online

e-GMAT is an excellent resource for improving your verbal score. Their approach to CR and SC is not something that I have seen in other courses.
However, the course itself is VERY extensive, and it is difficult to complete it, especially for working professionals.
The interface itself appears primitive and the videos are a bit monotonous, might put you to sleep. But if you can overcome that, the course is worth its weight in gold. It is one of the most comprehensive GMAT courses out there. Although, the course did not have a good app for remote learning.
It is a great course for fresh out of college GMAT aspirants. Just the extent of the course makes it difficult to complete.

Well Structured and Well Thought Out Admissions Consulting

REVIEWER IDENTITY VERIFIED by score report [?]

ApplicantLab is a very interesting take on MBA admissions consulting.
Pros:
1. It is a very well structured and well thought out service.
2. It saves a lot of time for candidates as it does the basic school research for you, you need not waste your time going through obscure school details for your essays
3. Maria is super helpful if you think the website cannot help you
4. You have readymade comparisons of gmat scores, gpa and Acceptance rates.
5. CHEAP - at $269 (Cheaper with a gmatclub code) it is definitely a bargain.

CONS:
1. You have to be incredibly self-motivated to turn up everyday to update the application

Course Experts' Global Complete GMAT Prep Online

Location Online

Experts Global is one of the most cost-sensitive courses you can enroll in.
It has three great components:
1. Excellent Video Course: The video course is really good and really lays down the foundations for GMAT. It can be done in 2 months. The videos are crisp and to the point.
2. Excellent set of practice questions: The quality of practice questions is really good - especially for quant. Only GMATCLUB might be better than this. Also, the video explanation is really good.
3. Great Set of GMAT Mocks - 15 of them! the Mocks resemble the GMAT official tests, and my scores usually mirrored Official GMAT scores. The tests are with their own video explanations as well
4. GMAT SHOTS: This is the most unique set of videos. They are small videos of 2-3 minute duration which focus on concepts - Helpful.
