Hi
mbaMission,
First off, thank you so much for offering this free service in evaluating our profiles for admission into graduate school(s). I am a 21 y/o white male from New Jersey.
I recently just took my first GMAT today, and unfortunately was disappointed with my score of
640 (Q44, V34, IR8, AWA TBD). I am quite shaken that this has drastically impacted my chances of getting accepted into deferred MBA programs despite a strong academic record with numerous extracurricular activities.
My previous score progression, in the past 6 weeks of studying, has been as follows:
2/15 570 (Q41, V28) MPREP
2/19 620 (Q41, V34) MPREP
2/29 640 (Q47, V31) MBA.COM
3/06 660 (Q44, V36) MPREP
3/08 700 (Q50, V34) MBA.COM
Academic Background:As far as academic background, I'm attending The College of New Jersey (decent school) with a 3.97 GPA (#1 in Accounting, Top 1% of Graduating Class). I'm majoring in Accounting with a triple minor in Actuarial Science (passed exam P), Information System Technology, and Finance.
I'm writing the following academic papers on blockchain, with an intent to publish:
"The Implications and Feasibility of a Blockchain based, Government-Issued Digital Currency"; and
"The Sentiment Surrounding Blockchain Technology within the Accounting Industry"
On campus, I was former President of Delta Sigma Pi (professional fraternity), and a school of business peer mentor. I am also engaged with volunteering at a local middle school to help young students learn about entrepreneurship and business overall.
Professional Experience2019 - I previously worked this past summer Deloitte as a Technology Advisory consultant and have accepted full time with them started in the summer.
2018 - I've interned at State Street as a digital product development and innovation intern with a focus on securitization of financial instruments via blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies (e.g. bitcoin).
2016, 2017 Lastly, I've interned as a paralegal in my late high school to early college career alongside a patent attorney.
Letter of RecommendationsI have recommendations from the chair of accounting and a MD from State Street, both of which I anticipate to be very well received.
Reason for PursuitThe reason I am pursuing an MBA is because I would like to transition from accounting towards entrepreneurship and/or financial technology. I have a strong background in entrepreneurial activities, especially since my parents are entrepreneurs themselves, and would really like to pursue my passion. I could go in greater detail, but I feel like this is already becoming a book in itself.

I would just love to go back to school and get an MBA with a focus on data science and create my own business or work for a large technology firm with my background.
I am just so torn right now to apply now since I made a decision to apply so last moment, but I do not want to ruin my chances later down the line.
Please advise what you think is the best course of action and if it is worthwhile to apply to 2+2 programs/deferred MBA given my background.
Thank you,
Devin
