OG Q 2017 (Book Question: 71)

Round the numbers and "cross off" (factor out) zeros

\(39,897\approx40,000\)
\(.0096\approx.01\) (use ONLY the 9 to round)**
\(198.76\approx200\)

\(\frac{(40,000)(.01)}{200}\)

\(\frac{(400)(.01)}{2}=(200)(.01)\)

\((200)(.01)=(200)(\frac{1}{100})=(2*1)=2\)

Answer C

**Or write \(\frac{96}{10,000}\approx\frac{100}{10,000}=\frac{1}{100}=.01\)

BigAdam , Bunuel answers this question often, but I can't find an example at the moment.
Co-founder of GMAT Club, bb , explains the issue well here

Hope that helps.
