Hi noco401,

Generally speaking, you want to score decent enough on the IR section so as not to draw negative attention to a low IR score.

You don't want the admissions committee to focus on a really low IR score of like 1 or 2 -- that shows lack of effort or ability

That said, it's not that much more beneficial to have a perfect 8 versus a 6 or 7.

So ideally, you want to stay in the 4, 5, 6, or 7 range to efficiently get a score that is decent without putting a crazy amount of effort.

Now, with your IR score of 5 – that is decent and good enough. In addition, your 710 score is very high. So in your situation, I wouldn't worry about retaking the test for a higher IR score because you’re in the target zone.

I wouldn't worry about this at all. IR 5 is more than good enough, unless your situation is really exceptional.

I'm aware that this question has been answered in multiple posts in the past, however I have yet to see it addressed in 2016. Why does this matter? It's been said that IR is becoming more and more important in the admissions process, and given that I don't plan on applying until Fall 2017 (Class of 20), I'm worried that the IR section may burn me.

Not shooting for Top 5; targets are Tuck, Yale, Darden, Fuqua

710: Q47 V41, IR - 5, AWA - 6

Any thoughts as it relates to the importance of IR in general and if it's worth investing the time and $250 to try again with no guarantee of improvement?

Thanks in advance!

Man that is a beautiful score!!

Relax, IR 5 is not that bad and a perfect 6 at AWA. so, don't even worry about it

I would recommend to go for application now
