Hello
Aj2599,
Sorry to hear that you faced some technical difficulties during your test. A 740 is still a strong score that you should be proud of! That said, I content say that there is still a significant difference between a 740 and a 760+ since the latter score could give you an edge you may not have otherwise had (particularly for M7 schools like Harvard, Stanford, and Wharton). Scoring in this range will also help you stand out if you come from a competitive applicant pool.
If you want to secure a higher score, you certainly have the time to do so given your plan to apply in 3 to 4 years.

I recently graduated from an NIT and I have started working as a Data Engineer in a Fin-Tech company. I'm planning to apply for MBA after 3-4 years, but I'm not much aware of the process and how the GMAT score affects my chances.
I gave GMAT two days ago. I got a score of 740(Q: 50, V:40, IR: 4) AWA score is not yet updated. I faced an issue with my internet and the test stopped abruptly when I was solving an RC question. I have been scoring in the range of 750-760 in my GMAT Prep Mocks, so I'm a bit disappointed with my score. But I'm confused about retaking the exam. How much difference would it make in my application if I score 750-760 ish in my next attempt? Also, can you please suggest some B schools I can look out for?
Thank you
