great job. Inspirational debrief. Please tell us something about practice material. Have you used only e-gmat material or more than that. Can you please share your accuracy at the time of practice.

I have received many questions. Here are a few answers:

Keywords

There are essentially 3-4 categories of Keywords. These keywords help with predictive reading; i.e. helping predict whats next. These categories are:

Changing line of thought

One one hand/One the other hand, while (also used for simultaneous action), rather, instead, In Contrast, alternatively, granted (this was a surprising one), it is true that, despite, certainly, although, but, nevertheless, nonetheless, yet, otherwise, despite.

Cause and Effect relationships
Subsequently, therefore, as a result, hence, accordingly, hence, consequently, for this reason, for this purpose, so, thus

Continuing the same line of thought, or enhancing the impact
additionally, also, furthermore, moreover, in addition, as well as, likewise, too, again, besides, coupled with, similarly, in the same way,

Again, there are a few more but these are what I could remember from the egmat course.

@amitx - Focus on meaning and Sentence structure on SC. know your rules well but apply them after you have determined the meaning. Below is my approach

Quote:
Read slowly: Do not rush through the original sentence and move on to looking for splits – YOU WILL GET SLAUGHTERED. Rather, read the given sentence slowly and understand its meaning by focusing on sentence structure. Sentence structure = knowing and accounting for all the noun, pronouns, verbs, modifiers, and parallel lists. Once you do that you should know the meaning. Once you know the meaning, identify faults in sentence structure. Example of faults would be SV errors, modifier errors, lists that don’t make sense (classical for 700+ questions) etc. Once you have found 2 or three such errors, look for splits and get to the right answer.
Even though this method seems longer, in reality it is much more efficient than rushing to the answer choices directly.

Know your rules well: You show know the grammar rules, be absolutely familiar with Verb-ed and Verb-ing modifier usage and the logic behind parallel lists. The usage of idioms such as Like and As should be crystal clear in your mind. There are tons of great article by e-GMAT on these topics.

Practice Material

While I used all the practice material that is listed in the resources section, the ones that I found useful are

1. Official sources
2. e-GMAT resources
3. MGMAT resources
4. VERITAS Prep test (free one, did not try the paid ones)

You have thousands of questions in the above practice materials.

Time for Mocks

I kept most of my mocks to weekends or holidays. Thats the best. Its very difficult to take a mock on weekday.

Question do you think the verbal live prep is worth the extra money? I've already purchased the verbal online and have found it to be very helpful.

I bought the eGMAT Course but personally, I don't like it one bit. I have only tried the SC from eGMAT and I am definitely against the approach these guys take. I tried using this approach but for a long time, could not improve my score . I personally suggest Bryan's Veritas Prep SC Video. I agree to the fact that SC is like CR and RC itself. Not making complete use of the information before solving the question is a waste of information!

Having said that , I have a 710. It might be possible that the way I used eGMAT was different from how you used it.

I never appeared in the GMAT exam even once. My first GMAT is scheduled in 2015 and I am studying hard for it. It is nice to read other aspirants' experiences. Thanks for tips

This is an excellent debrief.. super detailed and very motivating. Thank you so much for the keyword list on RC. Let me try and see how this works out. Can e-GMAT course help someone with a low verbal score
