They should have given you 780 for your your 51/46 split because my friend got the same score for 51-43 split.
Three extra Verbal points deserve +10 in overall score.

But anyway, GOOD JOB! I'd even say GREAT JOB! :)

I agree. I got a 770 for 51/44, so I'm guessing a 46 is just at the borderline for a 780. congratz nonetheless.

Hi all,
I have been a regular in the forum and GC is the only forum I visit w.r.t.
What's w.r.t? Pretty sure "w" means Wharton.

770 congrats! Well done

Thanks, everyone!
Yeah, Someone from this forum got 780 with the same score, but that's ok... I am pretty sure schools won't kick me out because I am not a 780.

@730i - I meant with respect to GMAT :). I swallowed GMAT. I had just returned from the center and was very excited.

Before I forget, I also noticed that in some of the sentence correction questions, I had to choose a SUSPECT answer because there was no RIGHT answer. SUSPECT, RIGHT and WRONG and the 3 possible types of idiom usage according to MGMAT Sentence Correction Guide. So I suppose people should make sure they understand what is ACCEPTABLE and not just what is RIGHT when it comes to idioms.

I perform really well under pressure; 51,46 being higher than all my mock test scores kinda proves that. But when I was attempting the 37th or 38th question in the Verbal section, it clicked me that in a few minutes I will know my GMAT score and I became all tensed! I would advice people to hide the timer and the question no. pointer till about 5 minutes from the end :)

Best of luck, everyone!

I found out today that I got 6.0 in AWA. I finished my AWA at about 04:30 GMT on 27th and I got the mail from GMAT with my official score card at about 11:00 GMT on 29th - that's just over 2 days! I thought it would take more.

I didn't practice AWAs much, I wrote one each of Analysis of an argument and Analysis of an issue the day before the exam. But I did go through Chineseburned AWA help and followed a similar structure. I also went through the sample essays given in the OG to see exactly what they were looking for in a 6 and what was the difference be/w a 6 and a 4.

In the end I figured I would do the following:
1. After reading the question thoroughly, I decided what stand I should take
2. I wrote down 3 reasons why
3. I wrote down examples - fortunately I was able to, I was afraid the topic will be too unfamiliar to get any
4. I started writing the intro with my stand, then 3 paragraphs with the 3 points and examples and then a summary

In the end it came up to about 20 lines, Each line was ~25 words so the total came to ~500 words.
I had about 6-7 minutes in the end where I re-read the passage to check for spelling or grammatical mistakes.

I don't have any essay writing experience at all and do not blog but I do have to write long "technical" mails to senior management and uninitiated customers so I am kind of used to structuring and wording long letter in such a way that a lay man can understand. Nevertheless, I am sure a 6.0 is very easy to get with a little preparation and some tricks :)

Awesomacious :)
Congrats on this wonderful score and even the AWA 6.0 :)
thanks for the valuable advice -
"5. In the verbal session, the best method is to find all the 4 wrong answers than to figure out which is correct."
Hope it helps me improce Verbal :)
