Question

Hello Team,

I am a 31-year-old Indian Male working in Singapore in Research and Development domain for clean energy and EV domain. I have a total of 8.3 years of work experience including 4.9 years of manufacturing in India and 3.4 years of R & D in Singapore. I am looking forward to a full-time MBA in upcoming sessions.

R&D (ERI@N)--Energy Research Institute @ NTU-- Working for past 3.4 Years.

Academics -- Bachelors of Technology from SRM University India in EEE. Scored (8.24/10).
Master of Science from NTU. Scored (3.25/5).

Post-MBA domain -- Either Moving in clean energy consulting or business development unit in MBB or Moving in FAANG.

My target school are as follows:-

Singapore -- *INSEAD / NUS
* -- On the INSEAD website, it is mention that recommended score for INSEAD is 6/8 in IR. However, I had got 4/8 and also in AWA as 4/6. My question is do I have a red flag on my application due to this. (Kindly, folks guide me into this matter)(Very much having anxiety on this point).

UK -- LBS / Judge / Said
(Kindly, folks suggest which one would be much better for me according to my profile.)

USA -- Sloan School of Managment / Ross Business School / UCLA / CMU / Chicago Booth / Wharton / Tepper / Stanford / Harvard / CBS.

Also, give comments for chances of getting scholarships.

Would be much appreciated for getting guidance on the same.

WITOW : For INSEAD, if your IR and AWA scores are below the recommended score, I would either retake the exam or reconsider your application. Given levels of competition, you don't want to go in with a somewhat objective handicap. How are your extracurricular activities or non-work accomplishments? Can you tout any? Given the little I have, I'd say schools such as UCLA, CMU, Michigan Ross, and Tepper feel about right. You might even get some money. The upper tier of your list - GSB, Wharton, MIT, Harvard and CBS - are going to be very tough to get into much less get money. I would pick only 1-2 of those for say a R1 application and focus instead on the others to make sure you get at least into one place! Judge and Said are good fits. LBS is more finance-heavy, but not impossible. Work Experience:-
Started my career in 2012 in TCS as an Energy Analyst in India then move to Doosan(South Korean EPGC) as a commissioning engineer then move to Hindalco as a Senior engineer. After that went for a Master of Science from NTU in 2016-2017 after graduating from it I accepted the job in Global foundries(Semiconductor) as a Module Engineer. Since 2018, I have been working in Energy Research Institute  ntu  as a Research Associate in the field of technology development for Clean Energy, EV domain, and Grid 2.0.

It's the beginning of August already, so you might have a hard time getting all of those applications in for R1. To give you some context, the most I have seen done properly is 6 per round. Of course, that all depends on your schedule and how much time you can commit to writing the essays and putting together the applications.

It's also a personal call but you might want to balance out the rounds in terms of relative difficulty. So, you might want to apply to a few reach schools (e.g., Harvard, Wharton) alongside a few target schools (e.g., UCLA, Ross) in R1 so you can get a better sense for your chances as the process unfolds. If you get into your reach schools, great. If you don't and you only get into target schools, then you can decide how to proceed in R2 based on that official feedback.

Hi Team,

I am really Stuck on getting LOR. As I wanted to take LOR from my current manager his position is Director. However, I am afraid that did he will write the exact LOR that I wanted to see or drafted from his side. As I am also working with one of the technical team leads. However, his position is Senior Research Fellow. He was very happy once I told him that I am going for MBA rather than going for Ph.D.

Do you think getting LOR from Senior Research Fellow will help my profile to count in the admission committee or should I take LOR from Director only. I don't know how he will write the LOR.

Also, for taking the second LOR, I was thinking to take LOR from my ex-employee, whom I was working in 2015-2016. Is it advisable to get my second LOR from him?
Really, I want to go into the top MBA program and I don't want that LOR would take away this opportunity.

Director -- He is good, But I am not having 100% confident about writing good LOR.
Senior Research Fellow -- I think he could write good LOR.
Working in NTU (Academic Research Domain).
Ex Company -- 5 years old.

WITOW : For your first LOR, go with your Director. You should work closely with him to help him craft your LOR, to the extent he needs or asks for your help. You can also call upon someone like us to help you review his LOR.
