A certain college's enrollment at the beginning of 1992 was 20 percent greater than it was at the beginning of 1991, and its enrollment at the beginning of 1993 was 15 percent greater than it was at the beginning of 1992. The college's enrollment at the beginning of 1993 was what percent greater than its enrollment at the beginning of 1991 ?

(A) 17.5%
(B) 24%
(C) 30%
(D) 35%
(E) 38%

Let initial value in the year, 1991 = 100
In the year 1991 = 100
In the year 1991 = 120 (20 percent greater than it was at the beginning of 1991)
In the year 1991 = 138 = 120 *(115/100) (15 percent greater than it was at the beginning of 1992)
Required = (138-100) /100 = 38%
