A ring of paint that is w units wide completely divides a circular racetrack's inner and outer lanes, both of which are r units wide and enclose a circular field that is 2w units wide. Since the boundaries that divide the field, inner lane, ring of paint, and outer lane from each other have no width, a person running in a lane may run anywhere in that lane or on the boundaries of that lane. If Person X uses the inner lane and runs the shortest possible distance once around the track, and Person Y uses the outer lane and runs the shortest possible distance once around the track, how much farther, in units, does Person Y run than Person X ?

Question: 2π(w+r+w) - 2πw = ??
i.e. Question: 2π(w+r) = ?
