In 1971 NATO countries Spent over 100 billion dollars and less than 150 billion dollars on military expenditure.

Since the military expenditure contributes to 1/3rd of their combined income. Therefore the total income would be between 300 billion dollars to 450 billion dollars.

The only option matching this criteria is option D.

Hence the answer is option D.

From the graph, NATO countries spent about $115B on military. Since this is 1/3 of of their combined income, the income = 3x115 = 345 ~ $350B.

D.

As we can see in the graph, in 1971 military expenditures of NATO was about 115 billion dollars = 1/3 of their combined incomes
=> the combined incomes of the NATO countries (in billions of dollars) in 1971 was about: 115 : 1/3 = 345 ~ 350 billion dollars

Hence the answer is D

IMO Option D.
As we all can see, in 1971 the military expenditure of all NATO countries was $120 billlion. This is one third of their combined income in 1971. So the combined national income of all NATO countries is 3*120= $360 billion.
Please give me kudos earnestly. I need them badly to unlock gmatclub tests.
