Re: According to local tradition, Sultan Abu ibn al-Hasan founded the East [#permalink]
this question turns out to be an explanation question. The word "argue" does not indicate a conclusion because there is no premise.
The word "support" refers to a mix question -> "support professor's position" and "however" gives an unique identification of the question: an explanation question that not only resolves the paradox, but also strengthens one outcome while weakening the other outcome

Official Explanation

Answer D does not provide proof that Sultan al-Hasan ruled in the eleventh century, but it does provide results that are consistent with that hypothesis. Moreover, the results cited answer exactly the sort of question that archeologists would ask in order to disprove the professor’s hypothesis. None of the other answers offer support for the hypothesis, so D is the best answer.

ANSWER: D
