K-buds take a while to get assigned sometimes. It also varies by who you get as a bud with the level of response you will see. If someone is still looking for an internship they probably have bigger worries at this point haha. If you guys have specific questions PM me and I will do my best to answer it...if I cant maybe I know someone who can.

I heard from my KBUD yesterday. I didn't know what a KBUD was either until he contacted me. Luckily, my Kbud went to the same Undergrad as me and is also a Vet. He told me that he was there for me to ask any questions about his experience at Kellogg or to answer any other questions that I had.

Your KBUD will likely contact you soon or the school is still looking for somebody with your background to contact you.

I also talked to my Kbud today, he told me to not visit these forums so often :)
Kellogg did a pretty awesome job of matching me up, in terms of career aspirations and family situation etc. These small little things that really help the decision making process. See you all in DAKII

I was told by the adcom that my K-bud would contact me soon.

It's almost a month and I haven't heard from him/her. But I'm not worried. I have many K-buds on this forum

I had a quick scholarship question, not sure if anyone would have any suggestions. I just found out that I received a scholarship from Yale that is higher than what I've received from Kellogg. It's not significantly higher, but is still higher nonetheless. Some people would argue that this would not really be a decision changer - however, since my interest is in nonprofit and social enterprise, it does slightly make me consider my options.

I was thinking about calling Kellogg Financial Aid to ask them if they would increase my scholarship to match Yale's. Is that a viable option? The other problem is my award from Kellogg is a fellowship set at a certain amount so not sure how they'd increase that...

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks

If its a fellowship it probably wont be increased. If you are going into non-profit you should look into tuition reimbursement and also find out if there are alums at your target "companies." Linkedin would be a big help there. Non-profits post on the schools' job boards but I doubt many show up on campus, so alumni connections is important. Yale does have a great rep and sends a good % of grads into non-profit compared to other schools but Kellogg has a much large alumni network.

Thanks river! I think I'll wait until after admit weekend to call. Speaking of which, does anyone know the easiest way to get from Evanston to downtown Chicago?

Depends on where you are going. The El and the Metra both run downtown. Metra is a lot faster but the El goes to far more places. My wife commutes daily via the Metra downtown, its like 25 minutes.

If you get in early enough tomorrow, I'd highly recommend going to the section receptions tomorrow night. They're really low key, and a great way to get to know other admitted students and your section leaders in a relaxed settings.

Yup I will be in. There should be a secret handshake or a codeword or dresscode to identify the gmatclub members among the DAK attendees.

Also, are there any R2 guys who HAVEN'T received info on the fin-aid?

I called them like 8 times in the last 2 weeks. Every single time I reached the voice mail box and no one responded to my voice msgs either.

I'm really upset. Being an international, I have a ton of things to accomplish before I apply for visa and everything is stuck up because of this

DAK was great. The Adcom mentioned that it was one of the largest DAKs ever. It was packed with events every day from 8 am until late in the night. I am so exhausted now and not ready for a long week of work :(

Regarding financial aid, I applied ~ 3 weeks ago and have not heard anything. At DAK, they allowed admits to sign up for one on one sessions with financial aid officers, but I did not arrange one, so I don't know how useful they were.

Financial aid office has been a pain. I applied on 29th March and am yet to hear. I always reach the voice mail and nobody responds. Email replies lack content. Being an international 1Y program admit, it is that much tougher and nerve wrecking. We can do nothing but keep at it!
