I'm from India and am planning to apply strictly within India.I recently resigned from my stressful 60-70 hours/week job, and am planning to take a short sabbatical. Post which, I'm planning to prepare for my GMATs and apply for colleges in the next cycle. Work experience of 8 years, including the last 3 years in a Big 4 consulting role. My current role is of a data analyst. I want to pursue an MBA to be able to pivot into manager roles more quickly. My current salary is far below the market standard for my level and experience because I spent 5 years in an IT service based organization, which resulted in less than ideal salary growth. Questions:
1. What would be the ideal score for ISB/ IIM - A/B/C, considering I have got average academics and extra-curriculars?
2. If I don't have a job during the application process, how should I address it? What can I do during these months to improve my chances of selection and make my profile stand out?
3. Any other general advices would be appreciated
Hi
VizzyFanboy,
Your profile is strong, particularly given your work experience in a Big 4 consulting firm. Your focus on data analytics aligns well with the current industry trends.
Aim for a GMAT score of 700 or above to be highly competitive for top Indian B-schools like ISB, IIM A/B/C.
Addressing the Job Gap:
Be Transparent: Honestly explain your reasons for taking a sabbatical in your essays.
Productive Use of Time: Highlight how you're utilizing this time to upskill, volunteer, or pursue personal interests.
Focus on Future Goals: Emphasize your long-term career aspirations and how an MBA will help you achieve them.
Tips for During Your Sabbatical:
Volunteer Work: Engage in volunteer work to demonstrate your social responsibility and leadership skills.
Online Courses: Take online courses to upskill yourself in areas like data science, machine learning, or finance.
Freelance Projects: Consider taking on freelance projects to showcase your skills and earn additional income.
Networking: Attend industry events, webinars, and conferences to build relationships with professionals in your field.
By focusing on these areas and leveraging your strengths, you can increase your chances of admission to top-tier MBA programs.
