A)the repair of the historical Cathedral, a project, taking almost a decade to finish; INCORRECT... a comma after a project is strange, and it is not clear what the Bild described.
B)repairing the historical Cathedral, a project that took almost a decade to finish; INCORRECT... it is not clear what the Bild described.
C)repairing the historical Cathedral, a project that had taken almost a decade to finish and INCORRECT... same as (B)
D)the repair of the historical Cathedral, a project that took almost a decade to finish and INCORRECT... same as (B)
E)the repair of the historical Cathedral, a project that took almost a decade to finish and that CORRECT... The Bild described this project as the most expensive repair undertaken ever.
past perfect is wrong - eliminate C , Run on - eliminate A After ";" There is no proper pronoun that can assure to whom the bild News company is referring to . B is gone. Now only D and E are left. In D to whom the build paper is referring to is not properly presented. Moreover, It is not parallel.
So E is answer.
