Thanks for the suggestion. I have already emailed Eva regarding status of my application. She replied back that it is under review by the Adcom but did not mention anything about the essays. Its kind of strange because I believe video essays are a part and parcel of a complete application.

I understand your predicament.Video essays are mandatory for every application submitted. But Desai Chinmay also went through the same and was rejected based on post mba career goals .Can you give me a brief about your profile?

Hi Manoj and Dexter1709,

I too am applying to Alberta and Calgary. I had a doubt regarding the apps of Calgary and thought one of you could help with it.

In my to-do list it shows that "Final official transcripts not received" and similarly for IELTS score report.... though it does not say anything in specific for IELTS.

The college does not ask to upload the IELTS or GMAT score report anywhere but only asks for us to self report the scores.

Any thoughts guys?

I had a torrid time with the haskayne application for the same reason and now as i think of it,i am not even gonna go dr.
They want official copies of both GMAT and IELTS sent to them. You will have to keep in touch with micheline campanaro or tazim nathoo with regard to the receipt of the scores in the school. Also, they require you to send the official transcripts over before application review(even though site says conditional admission is given).

Hello guys,

Thank you for your prompt replies.

GMAT:650 Q46 V34
IELTS:7.5
Work Ex: 4 years by Sept '16 in Commercial & Naval Shipbuilding
Extra-curriculars are decent

Sending them the scores is a real bummer but then will have to do it I guess..

I am planning to apply to Sauder, Alberta, Calgary and Mcgill.

HEC montreal term starts sometime else dude! So no point pondering over it now but it is one of the good colleges in the Quebec area from what I understand.

manojsundar1,

Hi Manoj,

I presume you are planning to go to Alberta? Any idea how to scenario is there with the oil tumbling to below 30 Dollars.

The oil prices are likely to be low so any idea about the other prospects available there?

I will decide based on my sauder admit bro.If i do not get sauder, then i will head to alberta.
Yes,i have been keeping watch of the situation and i have been reading about forecasts for an even further dip.But i believe the school will also be prepared to handle this situation and help me diversify. Also i spoke to an alumni in alberta, and he was like all of the seniors that he knows of from the 2015 pass-out batch are placed with people going into consultancy placed in alberta and the rest heading as far out as toronto.
Also i believe there will be a global turn-around by graduation time coz prices cannot stay the same(info based on lot of reading:P)
So let us see how it goes.

manojsundar1,

And all the best for your sauder application!

Yes you are correct that the oil prices will rise again but they are most likely to stabilize at around 50-60 dollars max.. in the next 5 years.. so the 2000-2010 boom of about 140 dollars/barrel is not going to come back..ever again.

The info that you gave regarding your chat with the Alberta student is really encouraging. Thank you for that valuable input.

Anytime dude.
With regard to the oil prices, you never know what will happen.Only time,US and the OPEC countries can tell. We can all only keep our fingers crossed that the energy sector recovers.
Feel free to ask any more questions.
Have you submitted your sauder application?
