Don’t know how to frame this question. Is it worth pursuing/putting in effort at schools where you are waitlisted? Attended a Booth WL yesterday with over 170+ members, and many who didn’t join. Feels like converting that WL to Admit will be difficult. Instead, thinking of other schools for R2 (Kellogg).

WOW! That is a huge number! Waitlisting has become more and more common for top programs. Historically up to 40% convert at some schools - now ’`that may be a different story at Booth this season. However, they are likely expecting a lot of candidates to decline with the Wharton decisions coming out today and HBS next week.

It is certainly worth it if Booth is top ofyour list - they effort isn’t that intense for the essay and video - you’ve already done all the research for the application - so now you’re giving them a new perspective.
I would consider applying to back up schools - Kellogg will be slightly easier as its the same area/region with similar employment - but different school personalities.

I have many of that. let me share.

Age: 25
GMAT: Yet to give

Class X: 9.2 CGPA
Class XII: 93.4%
BCom (Christ University): 3.6/4 GPA
Cleared all 3 levels of the CFA exams as well with greater than 70% in most of the subjects.

Extra Curriculars-
Was part of the quizzing team and won an Inter College quiz event.
As a policy enthusiast, took part at a deanery level panel discussion regarding the implementation of GST.

Work Experience -
3 years at a Fintech start-up. Was one of the youngest members at a start. Led a team of 8 people despite being the youngest member.

Helped scale the start-up from seed stage to the series a stage by actively being involved with the core team (including the CEO) to develop the Platform.

Part of my job is to interact with clients and resolve queries regarding details of various PE/VC deals.

Right now, I’m spearheading the initiative to write reports on deals and sectors.

Although the title of my role is Financial Analyst, it is an all round role which also involves aspects of product development

Everything looks well aligned for the finance/fintech focused schools - Wharton, Booth, CBS, Cornell... GMAT will be a factor, but CFA Level 3 is impressive and you can lean on this a little if you don’t have a stellar above average GMAT.
You should really emphasize your unique background and the impact of your role (despite title).

I will say that this has been an unusual year with extremely high number of applications. It does seem that more adcoms are relying on waitlist to hedge their bets with yield numbers.

I haven’t read the stat yet and I’m not exactly sure what it means by recommendations - if it is about school recommendations based on your score, it is a good baseline for considering your baseline - but know that it isn’t all about exam scores, its also about experience and passion
