For both of the people above, and for anyone else reading this post, the best thing you can do if you are just coming out of school is to get a GMAT score in the 700+ range, and preferably 720 if you want to go to a "top three" U.S. school, and have great internships and 3-4 experience at a known-name company.

That means, if you want to go to a top school in the U.S. it will help if you have work experience at a known U.S. or top firm in your field that is known internationally. Name recognition will mean something at the international level.
