I am a 29 yr old male from India
Current Experience: 3 years of work experience in Tech industry and entrepreneurship (start-up IT company)
Major in computer science and mechanical engineering
GPA: 3.8+
GMAT: 750
I applied to 5 M7 schools and got interview invitations from all schools. However I was rejected by all schools after interviews. I've never thought I would be rejected by 5 schools. I really want to know what could be my reason of rejections. Can I ask adcom of the school about the feedback/reason of rejection? Without making clear the reason of rejections, I'm afraid I cannot get the admission in the reapplication stage.
I am sorry things did not go well. When I hear from applicants who get interviews everywhere but still get dinged, it is usually one of a few reasons:
1) Lack of experience - Sometimes the schools will want to talk with you to see how impressive you are, but when it comes down to it you may just not have had enough experience to get over the hump.
2) Interview performance - I do a lot of interview preparation and it is extremely involved. If you were not properly prepared, you may have just under performed during the interviews.
3) Random red flag - Sometimes there are issues with a letter of recommendation or something else about the application that becomes evident and is a non-starter.
While your situation may be different, 1 and 2 are the most likely reasons, with 2 being the most common.
Feel free to contact me for a quick review of your application to see if I can point anything out. We can also go over a brief mock interview and see if that may have been the reason.
You have a strong profile on paper, so if you do everything right this time around, you should have success. Send me an email to discuss next steps:
scott@personalmbacoach.comThe good news is getting dinged one year doesn't hurt you the next! You just need to improve your profile in the meantime.
Best,
Scott
