Hi, I am preparing for Masters degree and i need gmat, about 580-600.
Today I took the gmat, and gmat's score upset me, only 530 (Q48, V 17). So i must retake gmat.
I think that I can easily reach 50-51 in Quant, but verbal is really hard for me.
I'm from Russia, so English is not my first language.
How I can prepare to verbal part? I need 23-25 in this section
- I solved all tasks from verbal review 2, about 75% from OG 13.
- 4 tests MGMAT 590 (45,27)
MGMAT 600 (46,28)
MGMAT 590 (46,26)
GMAT prep 590(50,20)
- I read MGMAT SC
- I did all SC from GMATPrepQuestion Pack 1.
Tasks from OG and GMATPrepQuestion Pack 1 i do with this probability
- SC 45-50% Sometimes i cant find mistakes and so i must choose 1 right variant from 3 variants. This " Awkward", "unclear", "logical prediction" are dark matter for me. I have no idea how i can improve it. Have you got a great pool of SC with good explanation?
- CR 70% If I entirely understand CR, then i will solve it.
- RC 50% It is very complicated for me to read complex text from RC, a can understand idea, but not some specific details. Have you got a great pool of RC, text for RC?
Can you, non-native speakers, give me advise how i cam improve my SC and RC?

Hi there,
I am sorry to hear that you did not reach your goals. A few things that might help:
1. Finish the OG. Also, review everything that you got wrong AND everything that you felt was difficult. Practicing is not enough. Review is CRITICAL.
2. Do every verbal question in the GMATPrep Docs and do the same review as above
3. Read an article from the Economist every day. Take your time with this. Use a dictionary. This will help your entire GMAT performance.
One more thing – sentence correction seems to be your big weakness but that's good news because it is the most rule based part of the verbal. Focus on the big rules: Verb Agreement and Parallelism. These are the GIANTS of SC. If you can get good at just these two things you will improve your SC. Focus on process of elimination.

But SC explanation in OG is useless for me, because i dont understand why some constructions are awkward, so most of all I need accurate explanation.
