Hi everyone, I’m currently looking into MiM programs and would really appreciate your advice. My main goal is to break into IB ideally in London, but I’m also very interested in PE/VC later on, and I want to keep the door open for MBB consulting as well.

In terms of location, London is my top priority, followed by Dubai, where I think speaking Arabic could give me an edge, and then Paris as a strong backup since I’m fluent in French. Visa issues are definitely something I need to consider because I’m a non-EU/UK citizen, so the ability to stay and work after graduation matters.

The programs I’m currently considering are LBS MiM, HEC MiM, ESSEC MiM, ESCP MiM, and INSEAD MiM. If there are other programs that you think would be better for my goals, please let me know.

What I’m trying to figure out is:
  • Which of these schools gives the best shot at breaking into IB in London, and if not, still gives me strong chances of securing a MBB role?
  • For someone in my situation, is it smarter to prioritize the UK for the graduate visa and off-cycle opportunities, or does the brand name of schools like HEC or INSEAD carry more weight if I end up working in Dubai or Paris instead?

I just want to understand which one would maximize my career prospects across IB, PE/VC, and consulting.

For breaking into London investment banking, LBS MiM stands out as the strongest feeder among your options due to its physical presence in the City and unmatched on-campus recruiting pipeline.While HEC Paris places well into European IB desks and occasionally London (e.g., via Société Générale or BNP Paribas), the geographic and cultural distance reduces direct access to London’s deal flow and alumni density.HEC MiM shines when considering MBB consulting and long-term PE/VC pathways, especially if Dubai or Paris become viable alternatives

In my opinion :
LBS is the clear priority if London IB is non-negotiable, while HEC is the smarter hedge if you’re open to pivoting toward Paris or Dubai within 2–3 years ESSEC and ESCP are solid but lack the concentrated IB firepower INSEAD MiM, though prestigious, has a newer track record and less London-specific recruiting
