teabiscuit, you are not helping! :P My app is in week 10 now and I had my interview 2 weeks ago. It's about time for that fateful "ding".

My comment, fortunately, does not apply to you. I was referring to the people who have yet to receive an interview invite. If you already interviewed, it means you have about a 40-50% chance of getting in and are sitting pretty. Relax and enjoy your turkey. You'll get that decision - hopefully an admit - shortly.

sapphireka, i am in EXACTLY the same situation. but i rmr reading that your interviewer also submitted his feedback late (mine submitted it after 10 days as well!) so that's probably the cause for delay...altho its been a week since my status has gone to complete so I too am worried...lets hope we both get in!!

I too am going to write off Columbia. I got accepted EA to Duke. I was on the fence between Columbia and Duke more so for the quality of life aspect while in school. I guess this takes me off as I am heading to Durham.

Best of luck all.

Congrats on getting accepted to Duke. However, isn't it "against the rules" to apply to 2 schools in EA? What if Columbia accepts you?

i guess its a risk he took. definitely not illegal. i know people who have reneged on columbia's ED offer. personally, i'm against reneging.

I don't think it is against the rules to apply EA to more than one school. It is however, against the rules to keep your application in the mix once you accept an acceptance from a school. I suppose I was not clear in my last post. I have accepted Duke's offer and have thus pulled my application from the other 3 schools I applied...to include Columbia. Therefore, I believe I am completely in compliance with the EA decision from Duke.

I'm also waiting to hear about an interview. I just finished 2 years in the Peace Corps a few days ago and didn't have internet access often enough to know when my app went under review.

Fingers crossed but getting other apps lined up too. Good luck to all and happy holidays!

Okay just because I am a massive geek I tried to do some analytics on the spreadsheet from last year to determine average wait times post Interview Complete.

(Sample = 23)
Average time from Int Complete to Decision: 11 days, Median 11 days
Std Dev: 8 days

Admit average time: 9 days, Median 8 days (s = 14)
Ding average time: 5 days, Median 5 days (s = 6)
And there were a couple of ED-->RD folks at longer than average (s=3)

So it's not a very reliable sample and it's mostly from early in the decision period, because the spreadsheet did not get updated later. Also please note there are no decisions from the week preceding Thankgiving.

So the key message is "Take your mind off hearing this week. Don't expect anything until 11 days after interview complete at least. Have a cup of tea and a lie down and enjoy your thanksgiving."

Just had an interesting chat with my Manager...He says that with the recession US applicants to B-Schools have shot up. Also funding might be an issue with the current economic climate.

For an International student like me this raises a couple of questions:-
a) With more applicants will schools like CBS admit more US students and cut back on Internationals ?
b) I have heard stories about how CBS does not help students in securing loans unlike schools like Booth and Wharton. Could the situation get worse ?
c) With the current economic situation how difficult would it be for an International to secure such a huge educational loan from a US bank? Paying out of my pocket is not an option

a) the recession has boosted MBA applicants from all over the world, not just in the US. so i guess the breakdown of US and international students will remain the same. it will be harder for everyone to get admitted this year than in previous years
b) according to adcom interviews conducted in China, CBS will not provide loans to students that do not require a US co-signer
c) you can either find a US cosigner, or secure commercial loans in your home country. there will be fellowship, scholarship or tuition waivers, but i think they are highly competitive. or you can choose another school which provides loans that do not require a US cosigner.

Hey everyone,

I'm planning to appy to Columbia in RD. The deadline is 6th of Jan. I need your idea about the app. time:

Is it important to apply sometime in December to show that how much committed I'm to Columbia? Or because I apply in the RD, it doesn't matter whether I apply on the 6th of Jan. or sometime in Dec. I really need you idea? What do you think?

not 100% sure, but i think January 6th is the date the round opens, as opposed to closes. so you don't have to apply there before jan 6th, since they won't start reviewing till after this date.
