yeah, I haven't been able to find any info on the number of people that declined their january intake offer. I was told that the class has been filled so our hope is that a "few" people decline their offer somehow. It's probably not a stat that the adcom likes to publicize. i'll let you know if I learn anything but I was hoping to find some former adcom official in the gmatclub community. this is a rough wait. good luck!

painstaking wait indeed. i'm wondering if they're also waiting for everyone's background checks to clear. i don't get it. orientation is jan 3. i can't imagine many backing out at this point (though i'm hoping!), so why not release waitlist? the whole thing eludes me.

Kroll background checks have not started yet. They will not be open until early January, and they will likely take a minimum of 1 week, all the way up to 4-6 weeks for most people as far as I am aware.

EDIT: The above timeline is for September 2010 entry. I am not sure what the timeline is for Kroll checks for J-term folks.

I think your email should just confirm that you want to remain on waitlist/considered for RD. Your longer waitlist letter describing why you're awesome should wait until after January 6th when they start reviewing everything.

And just to add, yes, they are quite mean about not following directions! I called the admissions office yesterday and when I asked if I should call my waitlist manager they said "wait until after Jan 6th, like the instructions said". They were a bit unpleasant but luckily I didn't give them my name =)

Eminent,

Are you a current CBS student, or a member of adcom? I ask in part because you know the scheduling for the background checks.

I have a quick question. My interview went complete about 10 days ago, and I just had one of my former coworkers, who went to Columbia, send an additional note of recommendation to the admissions committee. I am now debating whether I should send another letter of recommendation to the adcom. The person I have in mind also went to Columbia and currently serves as the executive director at a nonprofit that I volunteer for. Do you guys think this is a good idea? Or is two additional letters of recommendation overkill? Appreciate any quick feedback.

I am neither. I am a recently admitted ED applicant who will be enrolling at CBS in September of 2010.
