I have a quick question. My interview went complete about 10 days ago, and I just had one of my former coworkers, who went to Columbia, send an additional note of recommendation to the admissions committee. I am now debating whether I should send another letter of recommendation to the adcom. The person I have in mind also went to Columbia and currently serves as the executive director at a nonprofit that I volunteer for. Do you guys think this is a good idea? Or is two additional letters of recommendation overkill? Appreciate any quick feedback.

I really think this will be overkill. I would not send any additional information unless you are waitlisted. Just hang tight and wait for them to render a decision.

thanks sapphireka, looks like many indian candidates got dinged that day. full disclosure - i've been in the States for some years now, having got my undergrad here.

ah well, something else is planned for me i guess, in the grand scheme of things.

my interview went complete yesterday, the day that i got in.

i did my interview 15 days prior to that.

as far as tips, columbia really has to know that you love them. i've heard from columbia alumni interviewers being very explicit and saying things like, "we really care about yield, only want people that really want columbia" and "i dont even bother responding to interview requests that come in march/april" (since it is rolling)

so, apply early (whether ED or RD), and do your homework.

Admitted this morning.

And let me tell you all that this is a low GMAT success story. I had a 660. Then I retook it and got a 640. I was extremely frustrated.

Thanks so much for everyone's support on this forum - it was incredibly helpful.

Oh yeah I submitted oct 7, it went under review 10/14. Invited to interview on 11/09.
I interviewed on 11/22 (took forever to schedule!). My interview went complete on the 11/30. Accepted today 12/7.

My stats:
Dual nationality - USA/Kenya female
Age 27
4 years WE
3.1 GPA Undergrad Ivy
3.6 GPA Public Policy Masters
Development Director - national nonprofit
Volunteer work in South Africa

question for interviews: is it always on site, or in nyc?

for my own company, i'm regularly between London and Poland. Although i always love a trip to NYC, bit pricey for me to fly out there.

What is considered "early" in CBS RD? Since I hear adcom saying it all the time - "submit early"

I know you can start submitting your apps in August for RD, which I think we can all agree is early.

Is December still considered "early"? Are any dates after January 6 considered "late"?

Wanted to a get a feel from you all.

hey 2012dreams and everyone else who has been sent from ED to RD -

I just spoke to a member of the Adcomms - they are definitely following up these applicants. We spoke for about 25 minutes - it was like a mini-interview. She asked me about why I wanted to go to Columbia specifically - which was great because I didn't get to talk about that much in the interview. Although I hadn't prepped for it because she initially framed it as just a call to "explain the next steps in the process". And also she asked me to write a follow up email to discuss what I explained on the call.

So my tip is - be interested, reach out to them if you have been put into RD from ED.

Also they said that ED to RD candidates are no longer liable for the $6000 ED bond/agreement, and that I should have a definite decision by end of January.

Lurker here (long time reader.. yak, yak, yak). Just wondering if there are any other EDs out there who have interviewed but not heard back yet. My app went complete 12/7, and the wait is killing me (I know, I know - it's only been 2 days).

If you get a subsequent promotion after you submit your application, what is the best way to address this? Should I send in my promotion official letter? Or just a note stating that I was promoted. I think the first one would look better.
