Wait, what? I copy and pasted essay 2 as well. Am I missing something? Why would I need to add my name? I also didn't have my name anywhere on my PowerPoint - should I be worried about it? It doesn't specifically say you need to.

Also, I assume the both sides of the transcript is only if there is information on both sides, right? I don't think there is anything other than small print on the back of mine and I didn't include it.

Any thoughts on this? This thread made me nervous when I was pretty confident in my application before.

I didn't put any name, header, etc.anywhere and I'm in.
Don't over-think guys!
good luck to all of you, hope to see you in Sept

It gave you the option of either cutting and pasting or uploading a document with your name at the top of each page. If you cut and paste it then they should already have your name at the top of the application.

I submitted the application but went back in to check the formatting again in the printed pdf, even though I know I already did and found in 2 lines where the system replaced commas or semi-colons with questions marks. I'm really upset about this, I thought I found and replaced all of them. Is there anything I can do? Should I email admissiions and explain what happened, or is that a lost cause? :(

Don't worry about it. I applied in R1 and had several lines with this issue. I got in with scholarship. Admissions is aware of the problem. Good luck.

Thank you...you seriously just made me smile :)

I sent an email anyway explaining that I noticed it when reviewing the pdf of the printed version and asked if it was possible to re-open the application before the deadline tomorrow so I could correct it. If not, I at least feel better about what you wrote.

Phew, just submitted mine. Now the wait begins ... glad I noticed all the '?' issues with formatting, and adding my name to the uploaded PDF before submitting. My hands were literally shaking after I clicked submit :).

Does booth have a place where you can preview the entire application like other schools do? I don't know what the issue is around ? Etc. Where do I check it?

Just submitted for Round 2.

One of my LOR says still waiting even though my recommender says he submitted it; i even got an email from booth. Going to call in morning.

Also, I must say that Chicago's online system is absolutely brutal. from the ?s to the flow of the website; it just screams 1970s. It's amazing these schools with hundreds of millions of dollars can't invest a few grand updating the website interface. That being said, good luck to all~

I forgot to put my name on the pdf essays :(. I don't know what's gonna happen to my application. I sent them an email asking what to do in this situation but still no reply yet. Will need to call them in the morning.

come on guys, please don't overthink, there is no issue with that. As I said I didn't put my name in the pdf in Round1 and I've been admitted.

Thanks i will put a one liner and then refer to optional essay. I was never on academic probation as my gpa was still above three but did get one failing grade ~
Why do you put a one liner in the education section and actually do the explanation in the optional essay?

Why not just explain it in the education section?

Why not just explain it in the education section?

Speaking to some alumni who worked on Adcom, it's pretty clear that there isn't a fixed process for reading an application, and that each reviewer is free to read different parts of the application in whatever order they feel like. This means that someone could start by reading your transcript, spot the failing grade and then go looking for an explanation. They might look at the education section, or they might turn straight to the optional essay (which is where you're told to explain anything that might need an explanation).

There's no 'right place', but it makes sense to pick one place and then put in some signposts for the person who has to read your application.

Any tips on how to handle the extracurricular section of the online application? For instance, in the "Hobbies" section, how detailed should my I answer be? I have a list of hobbies on my resume as well, so should I go into details on why like certain activities?
Did you get any response to this question?

On my resume I just have a one-liner stating a few hobbies. In the online application I detailed more about why I chose those hobbies and I also wrote about little yet interesting anecdotes I lived doing those hobbies. I did not provide a 600+ words answer though

I don't think that there's a 'right' answer. I pretty much wrote a complete essay for each of those questions (I hadn't planned to do that, it was just how it turned out) and got in. On the other hand, I know some people who answered those questions in just a few sentences / bullets and got in as well.
