Quick question...can I still modify my application after I make a credit card payment? I will probably fine tune my app until 4 pm but don't want to risk having something go wrong with the payment portion. Thanks!

I working from memory, but I'm 99.9% certain that yes, you can modify stuff up until the point you hit 'submit' in the application portal.

I seem to recall that making the credit card payment doesn't automatically submit the application (you have to come back and do that yourself) and that I was correcting some of the dreaded '?'s in my essays in the few hours gap I had between when I made the cc payment and when I clicked submit.

Agreed.

So i just had one of the people I initially approached as a recommender hand me a draft of his letter. I hadn't heard from him, and assumed he wasn't going to write it, so I went ahead and found somebody else. When i submitted my app, I didn't list him as a recommender and obviously didn't describe why I selected him.

Any chance it would hurt me to have him send a hard-copy of his letter directly to the office? I don't want him to have wasted his time, but if I were a member of the adcom i'd think it was a bit odd...

Thoughts?

Just an update for anyone dealing with the ?'s in their submitted application. I received an email response from admissions saying they wouldn't re-open the application so I could correct, but if I want to send them an email with the corrected essay they would add it to my file. So that's what I did. Hopefully it works out!

Some interesting updates for us waitlisters...

https://www.chicagobooth.edu/boothconnect/fulltime/Waitlist.aspx

Timeline

Given that many of you have important decisions to make about your future within the coming weeks and months, we have decided to add an initial review to the waitlist process. Before our Round 2 mid-decision date on February 16, we will evaluate waitlisted candidates based on the quality of the applicant pool in Round 2. At this point, we’ll make some decisions regarding the waitlist. While many of you will continue to remain on the waitlist, some of you will receive a final decision at this time. We felt it was important to provide some of our waitlisted candidates with closure much earlier in the process. For those of you who will continue to be on the waitlist, decisions will be released as part of our Round 2 process on March 16. There will be the possibility of receiving a final decision or continuing to be on the waitlist into the next application round.

Does "Final Decision" mean ding only? Or could there be some admits?

I was just about to post this same thing. A very interesting update, to be sure. Did they do something similar last year, or is this a first? Either way, I need to get my updates out a lot faster...

My guess is both. If they have a strong R2 maybe they'll let go of some of the weaker WL apps from R1. On the other hand, if R2 isn't what they were expecting then perhaps some of the R2 spots will be offered to those on the WL. Also, as the R1 admits have to confirm before the R2 decision date you would expect that Booth will adjust the adjust the number of R2 admits/WL's accordingly.

Basically I think this is about keeping the WL down to a sensible size, being fair to those people on the WL and getting the most suitable applicants into the class regardless of when they applied.

It's not explicit, but it sounds like it will be a "continue on the waitlist" or "ding" decision. The only reason I wouldn't expect admits yet is because they haven't interviewed R2 applicants yet. But, it would be great if some admits did come out then. Best of luck to all!

In for R2. The application says "received." Is there anything else I need to wait for? Also, just to confirm, I'm pretty sure you don't need to have your official transcript sent to the school unless you are admitted, right?

I have only uploaded a scanned transcript at this point and my status has been changed to "complete".

As long as you've paid your application fee you're done, and you're correct about the transcript; only admits need to send in the original.

Did you just email the txt file to the admissions email? And they will print it out and put that in the file? I assume that this file should be the same as the one submitted except for the ? etc....

I replied to her email with the word document attached, I didn't get a response, but her original reply said they would add it to my file, so I'm assuming they will print it and put it with the rest of my application. And yes, it's exactly the same except for the ?s
