Hi, I'm new to the forum and I've got a quick question,

Probably too late since I already submitted yesterday, but for the #of month work experience box, should I have used current number of months(which is the one I used) or the longer number upon matriculation? I Have barely 3 years of work experience so I don't know if it will be a big deal or not. Will the admission office look at the other parts of my application which would suggest that I used the shorter# of months and take that into consideration?

Yeah, it's a little late to be worrying about this. The prompt says to input the number of "Months of full-time post-undergraduate work and military experience at matriculation (September 1, 2011), excluding internships, summer employment, etc" so you should have added an additional 6 months or so for the time b/t now and then.

With over 2000 apps to review, I wouldn't think the admissions office really has the time to be calculating your error so they'll probably take it for face value.

Thanks for the feedback. I've emailed Booth to see if there is any slight of chance of them updating/noting it. Fingers crossed.

why is %acceptance of booth so high 20+ while others are in low tens? Do less people apply to booth?

Check out the stats on Businessweek. Yes, less people apply to Booth in general, but it is also a backup for many people that enroll at H/S/W. It's all about yield. Roughly <65% accepted students enroll at Chicago vs. the other schools >90% accepted enroll. They have to admit more to get more to attend b/c people prefer the other schools.

I only had added one Recommender to the inline system and since time was running out I submitted with that. Now I can't seem to figure out a way to add the second Recommender, I guess the system is locked. Anyone in the same boat?

I have sent an email to admissions..

I have a theory on this as well. While Booth is pitching itself as a strong all-around school, it still very much occupies a finance niche. I think that a lot of top finance candidates, very often living in NYC, are willing to relocate out of NYC if it means going to H/S/W, but not for Chicago. So you see top finance candidates applying to HSW and then Columbia and NYU as their backups instead of Chicago.

This isn't a 100% rule, but I think it may explain why Columbia and NYU have extremely low admit rates relative to Booth (and their overall ranking) -- finance people simply aren't willing to uproot out of NYC unless they can go to one of the top 3 schools.

I got a few responses asking about how I was accepted from off of the waitlist last year. I am a poor example because I just sent one three-paragraph email the night before the additional materials were due. It worked for me, but I would advise sending emails and letters of support from anyone you know in the program once every three or four weeks--that seems to be the ideal number of points of contact from the various "waitlist" strategy posts.

My acceptance could illustrate that they use the waitlist as a way to "round out" the class for a specific profile as they accept the stars from the next round. I might not have been accepted if I were competing against other pilots who had been sending lots of letters in. They were just shy on pilots for R2 last year, I guess. :-D

Good luck and I hope to see all of you here this September! I'm applying to become a LEAD facil, so I just may be your first teacher....

I've been admitted to Booth and CBS and I want do Brand Management post mba - now I need to decide between which school? I know CBS and Booth are more known for Finance but anyone know if CBS or Booth are better known for Brand management?

I really wish schools would give you more time to decide, the deadlines for the 1st deposit are like 1 day apart for CBS and Booth :(

I also face Becky2010's predicament. Speaking of Booth v. CBS, in terms of finance outside of NYC (ex: midwest, west coast, south), I know both schools are very reputable and probably more highly regarded than top 20 regional schools that occupy those areas. Considering that I didn't get into any of the top 3 (H/S/W), which school would be best for finance? And that I want to return to my home state (not NY). Even worse, both school's admit weekend are the same weekend so I have to choose one.
