i deeply apologize, but what the @#$! are you talking about?!? the mid-decision date on the website is Feb 15...clearly in the email sent out by booth they meant Feb 15 - Feb 25 ... am I taking crazy pills here? what's happening? starting the panic 3 weeks prior to that is just insane IMHO ...good luck to everyone!

The mid decision date is the FINAL day for interview invites. On this day they also release those who are not being interviewed. ALL decisions are made BY Feb. 15 so they would not start on this day and go through the 25th. The only way that would be true is if the date on the website is wrong and the actual mid decision date is Feb. 25. However, I highly doubt that. Obviously invites will not be going out from Feb. 25 - Feb. 15 like the email said. So it is very plausible that Feb. 25 was a typo that was supposed to read Jan. 25.
So the panic, while a bit premature considering that a Jan. 25 - Feb. 15 invite window is pretty long, is not coming from nowhere.

Just speculating: do you guys remember from rd1 if anything on the status page changes? Do we still se submitted?? Anything about interview appear on our application page?

You will still see submitted when you first log in (I'm waitlisted for R1 and it still just shows Submitted). On the next page there is a section called "Status Update." When you get the invite it will show "An update to your application was last posted month xx, 2012." From there you click "View Update" and see the interview invite and further instructions on how to schedule the interview.

Here is a summary the interview invites that were reported on this board for R1:
R1 Deadline: Wednesday, October 12, 2011
R1 Mid-Decision Date: Wednesday, November 9, 2011
First Report of Interview Invite: Wednesday, November 2 (one week before Mid-Decisions day, 3 weeks after Deadline)
Last Report of Invite: Wednesday, November 9 (not all decisions on mid-decision day were Dings)

Breakdown by Day (based on posts on this board only)
Wed 11/2: 5 invites - early afternoon emails
Thur 11/3: 25 invites - timestamps 9:10 am cst, 12:40 pm cst
Fri 11/4: 14 invites - timetamps 9:01 am cst, 1:05 pm cst
Mon 11/7: 23 invites - timestamps 9:46 pm cst, 1:31 pm cst
Tue 11/8: 3 invites - timestamps 12:15 pm cst, 2:06 pm cst
Wed 11/9: 1 invite @ 9:02, dings also seemed to be at 9:02

87% of reported invites were received the Thursday, Friday, or Monday before the Mid-Decision date. There seemed to be two releases each day except the first and last days. The releases were not at the same times each day.

Am I missing something? Lemonems' data would suggest that Wednesday, February 8th is the earliest we can expect to see Booth interview invites.

The speculation that interview invites would start today comes from this email that some people received upon submitting their applications (I received it).


Dear Cheetarah1980,

Thank you for submitting your Chicago Booth Full-Time MBA application. In keeping with our commitment to transparency in the admissions process, this email explains what will happen with your application throughout the application life cycle.

There are two different phases of the process in each round, and below lists the dates that correspond with each.

Phase One 1st Date of Invites to Int. Mid-Decision Phase Two Final Decision

Round 1 Oct 12 – Nov. 9 Nov 2 Nov. 9 Nov. 9 - Dec. 14 Dec. 14
Round 2 Jan 4 – Feb 15 Feb 25 Feb. 15 Feb. 15 - Mar. 21 Mar. 21
Round 3 Apr 4- Apr 25 Apr 11 Apr 25th Apr. 25-May 16 May 16

Phase One

This is our primary application evaluation period. During this time, the system will review your application for completeness. If any materials are missing you will receive an email informing you to review your checklist to determine what is missing.

Invite to Interview - The Admissions Committee will begin to release interview invitations during Phase One and will continue this process through the mid-decision date. Look for an email that asks you to check your status via the online application system. If you are invited to interview, the Admissions Committee believes an interview will help us further evaluate your admission credentials.

Mid Decision

All applicants will receive an invitation to interview, or will be denied without an interview on the mid-decision date.

Phase Two

As soon as you have been invited to interview, you will need to schedule and complete your Admissions interview. After your interview is completed, the Committee will again read your application along with your interview feedback in order to make a final decision.

Final Decision

On the final decision date, we will release your final decision at 9:00 am. You may view your status via the online application system.

The date in red does NOT make sense. If the mid decision date is Feb. 15, how can interview invites start on Feb. 25? So speculation is that it's a typo that was supposed to be Jan. 25. But honestly, who knows.

People are using what appears to be a typo Jan 25 makes much more sense than Feb 25 in the email cheetarah quotes above me, and the fact that today is three weeks after applications were due (which was similar timing to when invites came out in round 1, relative to the application due date).
