I used Manhattan as well.i used the economis trial for a bit online and I was impressed. I didn't want to pay that much for it though. Curious why you are retaking after admission and fellowship, jack.

Thanks for the above.

There are a few reasons, the biggest being that many firms (banks and MC firms, and other industries I'm sure) seem to have GMAT cut offs at or a little above 700. At this point I'm really relying on my network to help me get opportunities, but I'm only going to get one shot at recruiting, and I want to position myself for success as best I can. That way if it doesn't work out, I've got no regrets.

Also at this point, I feel like I have more to gain than to lose by trying again. I'd essentially be forfeiting time and $200 (or whatever the test costs). Lord willing neither of those investments will seem that great over the span of my life, and if it could potentially open more doors, I'm all for it.

Good thinking. I might do the same.
Just when I was starting to celebrate and enjoy my free time...
You come up with a great idea like that one.
You are right, there is no down side besides the time and the $250 (I think).... They take your highest I assume.

It makes sense that Jack will re-take. I will do as well. I want to be upwards of 700+ for recruitment purposes.

I know this is probably isn't the right forum for this, but a lot of us post here regularly, so I'm confident I won't get any marketers responding.

I'm about to start prepping for a retake of the GMAT and just wanted to know what people used to prep. I am especially interested in hearing from people that struggled with the quant. I put a good amount of time in before, using Manhattan's materials, and will likely use those again, but just wanted to see if people had great experiences with lesser known companies like GMAT Pill.

Feel free to PM me as well, I don't want to takeover the thread with this, although it may be helpful for others in the future.

Thanks

doing the same - not for work reasons, coz my field they don't care so much... but for my personal satisfaction...always felt i didnt break 700 bc of work...and now want to take it when i'm not working to see. Also - i know for a fact that especially with schools that have grade non-disclosure or pass/fail - they straight up ask in those interviews what your GMAT score was.

I was so close to that threshold. 690. It was probably just two questions that would have pushed me over the edge....ugh....back to it I guess. M/b/b or bust.

I suggest everyone buy the extended report from the GMAC. It shows how a person scored per type of question (sentence correction, data sufficiency, etc.) I know that my sentence correction is extremely weak in relation to the other two types of verbal questions. I also learned I'm about equal in my quantitative competencies. To move my score I need to hit up all types of quant and focus my verbal on sentence correction.

Its a big leg up to know this info.

We're all in the ball park already (you all even more so), better to just get this thing out of the way and never have to worry about it again. angelfire213, I hear you on your reasoning as well. I'm pretty competitive, and I know I can do better than what I've done so far.

Not having the stress of school will make it easier. I have buddies that are about to go into this rodeo next year so I will study with them. Be a good friend and set up a study group for newbs, drop knowledge on them, and improve your GMAT score. It helps out the whole world.

Hey Jack! The quant was my tough portion as well. I went through all of the Manhattan books and then I started working on the Official GMAT Quant book and the Kaplan 800 book.

I think what really helped me was when I got an answer wrong, I would first check to see what the correct answer was, then try to redo the problem on my own instead of reading the explanation. I couldn't always make it work, but it definitely helped with fixing little mistakes. And the little mistakes is really what gets you out of that 600 range into the 700.

As a tip for people out there, these books are actually available online for free to download. Whoops! :-D

I used Magoosh. The explanation videos on the quant were the best refresher ever. Worth the entire $100 I spent. It was tough to get through all of the videos and practice problems, but I really liked the format and improved about 40 points on my test overall after using their materials for only one month. If I had used the program longer, my score might've gone up even more.

Just got the call from Haas. In!!!

Unfortunately they told me that I did not get membership to the consortium though...Will have to give the investment some serious thought..

Marshall started calling CGSM candidates on March 16th. I was called then and awarded the fellowship over the phone.

Since then, Marshall has sent out a note to all admitted CGSM applicants, so I imagine that the membership and fellowship decisions for CGSM are probably done. Have you checked your CGSM account for an update from them?

However, there could still be a chance you could be admitted to the school outside of the Consortium. Notification is still rolling through April 1st, so hold on. And...GOOD LUCK!

Did everyone who was waiting for darden and McCombs hear back? I'm still in radio silence. Wonder if its a ding.
Would be curious to get into my #1 choice with a fellowship but denied by all 5 other consortium schools I applied to. Makes the choice easy, I guess.

Got a Darden email this AM - Full Tuition offer so I assume I was admitted (haven't heard anything else from them). Makes the choice tough between Ross Darden, and Emory

Was the full tuition separate from consortium? And what did you rank them? I haven't heard anything so thinking it's a ding...

Hi!
Would anyone of you recommend a prep class? A couple of local colleges offer them in the range of $600-700. I'm using Magoosh, but I'm a horrible test taker and I'd like to score in 700's if possible. Honestly, I don't have the extra money, but I'm willing to splurge since my future depends on it.
