FROM Booth Admissions Blog: Invited to Interview? Congrats! Now What?

Greetings from Chicago, where our campus is full of sharp, beautiful colors of the fall season; my favorite time of year.

We’ve been keeping busy with the application assessment process. We have now released all of our invitations to interview. We’ve loved reading your applications and our staff, students, and alumni all look forward to learning more about you in your interview!

As Tyler mentioned in his last blog, if invited to interview with Chicago Booth, you received thorough details and information via email.  However, I wanted to briefly highlight the options candidates have for completing their interviews:

On-Campus in Hyde Park or Downtown Chicago

We always encourage a visit to campus when possible to better understand the culture within our community, and your interview can provide the perfect opportunity to do so.

Weekday Interviews will occur at the Harper Center in Hyde Park from October 27 – November 24. We will also offer interviews on Saturday November 15, in the new Booth 455 facility in downtown Chicago, next door to our Gleacher Center.

Whether you choose to participate in one of our weekday or Saturday on-campus interviews, the interviews will be conducted by our second-year Admissions Fellows. Additionally, those who are able to join us in Chicago can also participate in the campus visit program at any point during their Chicago stay.

We look forward to seeing you in Chicago and we know our students are excited to spend some time with you and share their Booth experience.

HUB City Options

Knowing that not everyone can make a visit to Chicago for their interview, we are pleased to offer interview locations in four cities. Round One interviews will be offered in:

Shanghai on Saturday, November 8 and on Sunday, November 9

New York City on Saturday, November 8

Washington, DC on Saturday, November 22

London on Sunday, November 23

Joining us to interview in one of these cities is another great way to gain a transparent glimpse into the Booth community and meet members of our community by participating in networking opportunities before or after your interview.

Details on the location and interview/networking schedule were sent to you via email. Interviews in Shanghai and London will be conducted by Booth alumni who are living and working in the area, while interviews in NYC and DC will be led by either a second-year Booth Admissions Fellow, or an alumnus/alumna.

Off-Campus

Until November 16, candidates can interview with a Booth alumna/alumnus in their city. If you selected this option, the admissions office will connect you with an interviewer in the closest major city.  Then, you and the alumna/alumnus will pick a convenient day, place, and time (generally a coffee shop or an office) to meet for your interview.  Please keep in mind that if you are traveling for business or pleasure outside of your residential city, you are most welcome to interview there. It is not a requirement that you interview in your home-city.

Regardless of where you interview, every applicant will be assessed equally. It’s important to select the interview option that works best for you. If you feel that you’d gain value from connecting with us in Chicago or at one of our other Booth interview locations to gain deeper immersion into the Booth community, we look forward to welcoming you in person. Alternatively, our alumni community will be thrilled to meet you and to expand upon how Booth has had a lasting impact on their lives.

Fort tips on what to see while on campus for your interview, read The Booth Experience blog post here. We wish the best of luck to all who have been selected to interview, and remember – just be yourself!

For those visiting Shanghai to interview, I’ll see you there!

Best,

Danielle

I would say that would make your profile standout, which is good, right?
You can also tailor your essays to be more gender specific: admission-s-sex-strategy-34569.html (may give you a laugh)

If you really wanted a good strategy to make your profile stand out and get you into a few schools, suggest you peruse this verified review: https://gmatclub.com/reviews/comments/sc ... -345347474 .... and no I do not know which schools he/she is attending

Hi All,

Looking for suggestions. I haven't been invited for interview and I received my promotion just yesterday. Should I reach out to the Adcom and request for interview based on the new data point. If yes, can someone please help me with the strategy on how to approach this.

Any alumni/student out here? please advise.

I'm an applicant as well, but here is my take. If you're applying for round 2, its a good idea let the admissions team know that you've just been promoted and that you hope that it will be taken into account when reviewing your application. Then maybe a sentence on two on its significance and what your new role entails. If you've applied for R1, not sure since I know the deadline for invitation was last Friday.

Hopefully a member of AdCom will read your post and reply :D

Hi Kenn,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I had applied in Round 1 and received a ding. So, i m wondering will an incremental data point change the decision for the Adcom and help me secure an interview slot.

Profile: Indian/ Male/ Engineer
GMAT/GPA: 720 (Q50V36), 3.5
WE: 5+ years in analytics consulting (based out of Singapore for last two n half years)
Role: Senior manager leading Marketing Analytics for clients in Asia Pacific

Booth's strong analytical curriculum really excites me and now I am feeling missing out. :-(

If analytics turns you on then you can still apply to other strong programs such as Wharton and to a lesser extent NYU.
Move over, I know its tough but there are better things waiting for you out there

Keep your chin up and take the next step

G-Luck,
Cheers

Wow, timing on this sure stinks. Unfortunately I think you made a mistake in apply R1 if you knew ahead of time that you might get a promotion in October. If this was out of cycle/unexpected then I would say there is always next year and lots of great schools you can still apply to in R2! Best of luck.
