Are there equal chances of admission for Round 1 and Round 2 applications? I’ve heard that it’s encouraged to apply early, but I want to make sure to apply whenever more ready.
You have to weigh it but best to apply when you are ready and not so to speak putting everything in last minute. At the same time, good to take a look at how much really can you improve your app. Sometimes a lot and sometimes not much. R1 and R2 are both good rounds but R1 is slightly preferred (but this is a very ancient debate)

My appologies to any of the Yale folks who may be here. The Yale Chatroom is: mchat.php?room_id=50050112

With a 3.4 GPA (after converting Indian to point GPA to the 4 point scale), what kind of GMAT score can compensate the low GPA? How often does Scholarship happen?
Do not convert your GPA to 4.0 point. Adcom weighs in your GPA within your pool so you should be mentioning your actual gpa everywhere. You should aim above 10-20 points than the average for your applicant pool. Scholarship depends on a number of factors and not just your gmat or gpa.

I don’t know if this is a fair question to an admit; this is more of a question to Adcom where they promote and talk about their program but maybe 🤷‍♂️

Any suggestions for those affected by layoffs in the recent months and aiming for R1 apps? Does not having a job while applying negatively impact? Unfortunately the industry I was working in has collapsed due to the economy along with US regulations pushing it out’ (crypto industry - SEC is suing top companies) so after 3 months of trying to land another role it looks like I need to pivot industries to have a job for now, but concerned how this looks on MBA apps especially for the narrative I had.
Adcom understands that this is a difficult time for a number of industries and I’ve seen laid off people get into bschools this year. You should be able to make sense out of what you’ve been doing since then, show your contributions to non-profit, ECs or something else that you’re passionate about. Try to gain some leadership points and show that you’re motivated through out this period.

Any opinions on the summer waitlist conversion possibility? If so, what are the chances?
I dont think there’s a set criteria for this. At this point, It all depends if the seats are vacated by other admits for which chances are extremely low (not zero though).

Which school has entrepreneurial spirit or the most number of resources such as incubators( except top 5 FT) I know almost everyone has to pay off student debts but still I believe the spirit goes a long way. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

It’s not merely about contribution to society but the impact that you have created within that group, area, or service. You could potentially show examples like how you helped a security personnel in your building utilize his time to study or created a society group to teach all such persons. There could be ton of examples but I feel that it’ll be most impactful if you make a difference in an area that you have been part of, for a very long time.

TBH I do not have a comparative analysis of entrepreneurial resources at all the different schools. MIT, HBS, and Stanford are the strongest program for entrepreneurship. At the end, instead of doing a comparative analysis, it’d be better to pick up a school and see how well the past students have been able to make use of it’s resources like how many companies were incubated in the past few years, were they able to sustain in the long-run...

For more context, I have a poor undergrad GPA (6.48/10). I feel I have grown a lot at my place of work and recently scored a 760 on the GMAT.

Sure, while bb is on spot for this, I’d be happy to share my thoughts. Booth is well known for its academics and strong inclination towards finance (although consulting and tech are common areas too). Most professors are research oriented, and require you to develop a deep understanding of the subject for classroom lectures and case studies.

I think 760 on the gmat is a great score but for selling your 6.48 gpa to Booth, you need to have a strong story. You need to justify why you weren’t able to score much (may be because you didn’t like your major or there were medical/family issues or anything else).

Honestly, I slacked off in a lukewarm environment and I did not have the clarity at that period of time.
