I haven't even received an interview invite yet, but I'll give you my thoughts.
If I was you I would make a list of 5-10 key personal attributes. Then think about what the adcom is looking for, and choose 2-3 from your list that align with what the adcom values. Then think about how you can communicate each of those attributes through a personal interest of yours. IMO, it's a good idea to get personal on at least one of these stories. As you go you might reflect on your list of 5-10 and see that a different one works better.
Put your 2 or 3 stories into an essay with an intro and conclusion, and then edit edit edit down to 500 words.
That's the straightforward "answer the the question" approach -- I'm sure there are some who wrote great engaging narrative essays, but I know that's not my strength so I kept it simple.

Thank you very much brainhurt. The reason I'd mentioned that the question is directed to individuals who are selected or interviewed is that I believed that some conflict of interest may arise if I ask this question to other boarders.

Guys, does CBS have any deadline by which all interviews invites are sent, some kind of mid-decision date? Or will it just be a Ding in December?
