Fellow J-Term applicants,
Good news for some of us: I found out that 60% of the J-Term class is composed by international students. This is significant given that the overall composition is 40% international.
Here is the original article:
https://cbsgba.com/archives/category/j-term2012 “Sister Cluster” Program
In just a few short weeks, the January-entry (or, “J-Term”) class of 2012 will join the CBS community. Everyone at CBS is looking forward to welcoming Cluster X, Y, and Z to campus, and we hope the J-Term students are looking forward to meeting their new peers.
To help the new students benefit from the knowledge and experience that the rest of their class has already accumulated during their first months at CBS, the GBA is inviting 2012 Clusters A – H to apply to be a “Sister Cluster” to one of their new peer clusters. This offers many advantages to our September-entry (or “S-Term”) clusters, including:
* The ability to give back to the community and share their new wisdom (e.g. best study spaces? Worst meal at Uris Deli? Etc…)
* A chance for their cluster to be among the first to meet their new peers. This means a whole bunch of new friends and potentially even more… remember, the J-Term is 60% international which means some exotic, interesting, and gorgeous new students… we’re just sayin’…
* MONEY. Each Sister Cluster pair will receive a budget of up to $2000 to spend on joint activities. This can more than double the amount of money each cluster has in their cluster fund to plan activities and events
S-Term students who would like to see their cluster named as a “Sister Cluster” to X, Y, or Z should send the following answers to both Sam Sibble (
[email protected]) and Shawna Kaufman (
[email protected]) by Friday, November 26th. Your total submission should not be more than one page or 500 words max.
* Why do you want your cluster to be a Sister Cluster to X, Y, or Z?
* How much money would you want, ideally? ($750 – $2000) NB: the money will need to be spent before the end of February 2011
* What will you spend the money on?
This is a great opportunity for students to build their own cluster community, while also expanding their network and meeting new people. We hope all of you will be interested… and may the best clusters win!
