Spoke too soon. I just got dinged. Reapplicant. I interviewed last year. No interview this year. I'm in as sam on the spreadsheet. Goodluck to everyone else.

Sorry SBL0322. Sometimes it's the luck of the draw as these application processes are opaque and seemingly random. Your profile looks impressive. I'm sure you'll have better success with other schools.
Anyone knows the exact date when Adcom will start reviewing the regular decision candidates? I know it is sometime in December but not sure when exactly.

During one of the info sessions, they hinted at early December. Good Luck to all!
BTW, does anyone know what the review timeline is for CBS to review and notify applicants? i recall reading from prior year, 12 weeks from the point that application goes under review. but i cant seem to find anything of the sort from the CBS website. did they abandon that timeline?

I ran some calcs on 2010 as well as 2011 pre-November CBS rollcall lists available off the GMATClub/BW forums. Perhaps these stats are not very representative given sampling errors, so need to be taken with a spoonful of salt. Anyway, just FYI.
2010 Sample size: 126 Of those with GMAT >=750, 46% were invited for interview and 29% converted
2011 Sample size: 160 Of those with GMAT >=750, 44% were invited for interview and 31% converted
the point being columbia is heavily relying on high GMAT?
Yeah, it appears that way.
probably true for every top 10 school.

I think this relationship is spurious. People with high GMAT scores probably tend to be strong candidates in all other aspects of their application as well. Scoring well on the GMAT requires tremendous dedication and focus, so top scorers are (all else being equal) more likely to have clear reasons for pursuing an MBA and are able to clearly articulate these reasons in their essays. I don't think that the top 10 schools place a high premium on high GMAT scores per se, but rather seek to admit the kind of people who tend to score well.
How important do you guys think it is to the adcoms that you visit the school before applying? I'm only 4.5hr drive away from NYC, but I'm a graduate student with little time and even less money to make the trip. Just wondering how bad that will look.

It won't look bad, but you should do it anyway; shows commitment.
Here's hoping that we see some movement today. One would think that they are looking to make significant progress with the outstanding ED applications before Thanksgiving recess begins on Wednesday.
Is anyone else still waiting for a call after going complete? Beginning to feel like I'm the only one left...
