I did an optional essay where I just accented my value to CBS. Dunno if it had an affect on my app, but I did get an interview invite (still have to do the interview).

Really, all the optional essay says is "Got anymore stuff you wanna share?"

Hi everyone!

I am just curious...have any of the RD applicants started to receive invites yet? I noticed that my status went from submitted to "being printed & prepared for review." Or is this standard four days post-submission?

I would assume that if you haven't been notified that you've been deferred, you would still fall under the ED notification timeline (not sure, but before January - perhaps on a website?).

If you have been deferred, you would be considered a RD applicant and follow their notification timeline (January onwards).

Again, other than the fact that RD applicants are being reviewed and being notified from January onwards, my ED timeline speculation should be taken with a grain of salt.

I highly doubt it'll be deferred. ( maybe for a handful), but for most it'll be a ding.

Pretty sure a candidate cannot be deferred without an interview.

Agree w ckgriffi. They are looking at as how the class is filling up and at the current students in the completed interview pipeline.
They are probably profiling RD, not necessarily reading apps, to check out the strengths of RD

I hear that certain fortunate applicants do not have to go through the interview process. Application is enough for admission. Anybody have stats on that minority?

Last year Columbia said that they would begin reviewing RD candidates on January 6. On January 6th, RD applicants began to receive dings and interview invites. What does this mean for this year? Should we start to hear back about dings and interviews starting tomorrow with final decisions coming out in January?

It seems that most schools have moved up their communication dates this year and I would imagine that Columbia will follow suit.

All I am new to the message board I just got an interview invite today. I submitted for ED on 10/5 and went under review on 10/8. I am a reapplicant by the way. So all hope isnt lost.
