Did some calculations on the ED round this year:

Average time from Application Submission to Interview Invite: 30 days
Shortest time: 4 days
Longest time: 72 days


It seems like the shorter the turnaround times is with regards to your invite, the stronger your application. If several people have to read it before inviting you, it probably means your application is solid but not amazing. I wonder if those who get invites quickly have a higher acceptance rate.


i would agree with this assumption..... i found out literally the day that the adcom returned from winter break (1/4/2010) and had submitted the day before the break started. so unless they were secretly in the office when they werent supposed to be , would say i had a pretty quick turnaround !

I think it also depends on where you fall in the pile. If one adcom has 100 applications to read and your application is the 100th, likely you will get an interview invite later than someone who was on the top of the pile. I am pretty sure that adcom read applications over the winter break too. One board member may also read faster than the others. In any event, whether it took someone 4 days or 30days to get an invite; if both get accepted, who really cares?

Do they let you pick your alumni interviewer or do they give you a select few to choose from? For example, I know a few alumnis and it would be benificial to interview with them. Is it unethical, or do they ask you not interview with people you know, or know through mutual friends? Not sure if they care or not.

It is unethical to interview with a friend. The correct thing for you to do in that situation (assuming your friend is a CBS ambassador and happens to be one of your 9 choices) would be to select someone else. If not, that would be like a third recommendation from a peer.

my status was changed to your app is being printed about 10 days ago and no further update then..

is it normal? how long can printing 15 pages possibly take?

It doesn't really mean that it's still printing, it just means no one has picked it up yet to review. Mine was in that state for about 11 days as well. I wouldn't panic just yet.

Do not fret yet if you applied in the application bubble (Dec 26 - Jan 6) and haven't received an interview invite. I didn't get an invite until early Feb. and believe I applied on Jan 5th of LY. The wait is painful so the best thing to do is work on mock interviews because as soon as you get the invite, you will have very little time to prepare. Good luck everyone!

If I'm not mistaken, I don't believe anyone from GMATClub has been invited to interview who applied in 2011. So, hopefully many to come!

my apps status just turned to "under review"
when should I expect a response and when should I start losing hope?

I saw some people lost hope after 2-3 weeks..

I applied on 12/25 and went under review on 1/4. If I don't get an invite this week, then it's definitely over.

I just interviewed with an alum this morning. I saw a few people who had interviewed before were noting whether their interviewer had or had not submitted their review. Anyone know where I can locate the status of my interview feedback submission? I don't expect it to go in right away, I'd just like to know when the decision clock starts once it has been submitted.

My main application page still says "You have been invited to interview: We will contact you within 24 hours with interview scheduling instructions."

The interview status link says "Interview Scheduled" still.

I guess I need to wait a bit for the system to update or something.

It took about a week after my interview for the status to update. The alum gets 3-4 days to submit their feedback, and then I think there's a day or two for them to go in and update your status. I got an email from the system saying my status changed when I went from Interview to Complete.
