Actually, I believe engr2012's outline is correct in most cases. I just spoke with CBS admissions and was informed that their internal interview portal is temporarily down. It appears that all correspondence is manual for the time being.

Not sure if this is the appropriate thread but wanted to provide some information for J-term applicants.

I submitted my application on 5/19 with a completion date of 5/26 (once my recommenders had submitted). I was invited to interview today.

Okay. I was not sure as 2017 entry J-term students join up with the 2016 traditional 2Y students after their first year.

I applied to CBS on the 3rd of June and still haven't heard back... do you know if this issue has been solved?

I don't believe it has as my interviewer submitted feedback for me and I received no notification through the application portal. A member of the admissions staff sent me an email letting me know that my interviewer had submitted and my application had moved to committee.

Hi all,

First of all congrats! I will be applying this year to Columbia and drafting my essays. I have a quick question to previous year applicants. This is a straightforward question but will help me immensely in my essays because I currently am confused as hell.

So, my future career goal is private equity. Although I know this is risky to write down in my application, I have decided to go with it. Now, for the "very center of biz" question, I am planning to write all about the Value Investing program. Is this a good idea? Value Investing and PE are different fields but extremely close and share a lot in common at the same time. Would this confuse admissions?
