Thanks so much guys. This board has been so positive towards myself and everyone else who asked for advice and help. Pretty incredible. Just awesome community here.

I actually was admitted to Gtown as well a few weeks back, but kept that on the DL a bit. Now I've gotta decide :). Many factors involved, several non-academic.

Congrats! Did you do flex time program? If so, are you moving there and finding a day job at the same time?

I'm gonna move there and take classes on a full time basis as flex time student.. and officially transfer to full time status at the end of the first semester.

Hey guys-

I have a couple of questions I need some advice on.

What do you think the career prospects for someone interested in General Management or possibly Finance as well are in NYC if they graduate from Tepper over a strong regional school based in NYC like a Fordham.

I know Tepper's program is very quant heavy and im not a quant person by any stretch of the imagination. Considering most of the class comes from a enginnering background and I did not do any math since practically sophomore year of college.

What do you think the better move would be? Tepper would be approx double the cost for me to attend due to living expenses and tuition difference. Fordham would not cost anything over tuition since I currently live in NYC already.

Trying to figure out if the career benefits from Tepper outweigh those of Fordham in NYC (where I want to work) with double the tuition and a quant heavy program which i'm somewhat fearing.

thanks for any advice.

i would say go w/ tepper for sure. don't let the quant bend intimidate you, it is still, afterall, just an mba program ; ) plus, if the admissions committee thinks you can handle it, you probably can. as for the cost differential, that's your call.

Asking for a friend of mine: do you know if a significant number of CMU undergrads go to Tepper for bschool? Just wondering how they view the Carnegie Mellon undergrad degree - advantage/disadvantage?

thanks! :)

I would take Tepper over Fordam every single time...Tepper is a school with a very strong rep for the quality of its academics and I view it as a place that is close to if not on par with Duke, Darden, Yale, and the like. Its not a very large class and its location is not as desirable so for it to be doing as well as it has then it just shows the quality of the program. A lot of companies with GM roles go for people with strong technical backgrounds since a lot of times they are manufacturing based. If you dont have that background prior to school going to a school like Tepper will go a long way to giving you that hardskills background.

how difficult is the Tepper Quant focused program? Does anyone have any knowledge of it? I don't have a quant background at all and frankly am a little wary of how rigorous and math heavy I've been hearing it is. At least I'm going part time to start the program and then transferring to full time so that will help (the fact that I wont have a full course load of quant courses).

Does anyone have any other interesting information on Tepper that they may have come across? I'd love to hear more.
