Application fee waivers may be given by some business schools beyond the criteria mentioned by you. If you attend certain events/webinars by schools prior to submitting the application, some schools offer an application fee waiver to incentivize you to apply. Sometimes, if you submit an endorsement by an alumni or a current student (this is not the letter of recommendation that is an application requirement), you might be given a waiver. Duke Fuqua offers this (they did till the 2022-23 application cycle. We will have to see the guidance for the 2023-24 application cycle), and we have seen some other schools also offer an application fee waiver if an alumni/current student endorses an applicant. Also, if you come from an economically weak background, you can request for a waiver - which is considered on a case-to-case basis.


Last year (2022-23), many business schools were offering application fee waivers to those laid off from their jobs. Applicants will have to check if this is still being offered for the 2023-24 application cycle, contact us at team.mba@theredpen.in to know more.

Every business school specifies the time of submission on the date of the deadline. It can be different across schools. There is no standard time followed by every business school. You need to check the website/application form for the exact time. Also, business schools may be located in different time zones across the US and the submission time on the deadline date could be specified in Alaska time, Central time, Eastern time, Hawaii-Aleutian time, Mountain time, and Pacific time. Similarly, for Canada, it could be specified in Pacific, Mountain, Central, Eastern, and Atlantic times. European countries may be in different time zones as well. You need to check the local time mentioned on the website/application form for each business school and convert it to your local time accurately, to know the final deadline for submission of an application, contact us at team.mba@theredpen.in to know more.

Does anyone ever hear a story of J-Term student doing an internship while doing courses (so not summer internship)? Do you guys think it's as valuable as summer internship?
