The unwritten conclusion I can get from this is that interivews don't really mean much.

At least not as much as Johnson makes it out to be.

That's odd, I could have sworn their admissions staff said something to the effect of, we interview half then accept about half.

Well, according to Montanuk's (sp?) book, Cornell stated that they interview 25% of applicants, and admit half of the interviewees.

Ahh..so many different numbers. Which to believe...

In past years, Cornell accpeted more than 25% of applicants so this can't be right.

He writes new versions every few years. I have the older version, so the numbers are probably no longer accurate....esp since bschools change the percentage of applicants they interview every so often.

This is inline with they interviewing half of the applicants and accepting half of the interviewed applicants.

I believe that interview is very important. I think one should read the posts about interview tips for sure.

I wonder if some will go out next week. The adcomm has had a chance to briefly see the quality of applicants that came in for R2.

BTW, why did you only apply to 2 schools?

I interviewed last week and adcom said I would be notified on 12/7, not earlier than that.

Well see, that's a slightly complicated question. Easy answer... those are the only schools I'm interested in. Additional factors, I don't want to spend money on applications. I'm confident in getting into at least one. If I didn't, I suppose I could always apply to some other school that I know I would get into, but like I said, I think I'll get into at least one. Because I'm not exactly going the ultra elite route. Not sure if that completely answered the question, but I did my best. Any other more specific questions, I'd be happy to answer.

We have very less # of interviews reported both here and on the BW forums for CORNELL. Isn't adcom finding the profiles from R1 interesting?

Someone PMed me to ask about Cornell's notification dates/scholarship dates, etc. Here's what happened last year, for R3, which is when I applied.

Application due early Jan.

Interview invite very quick after that.

Admitted early as I was a Park finalist. (This must have been sometime in Feb, though the notification date was in March sometime.)

Park weekend in early March.

Park notification within a week.

Acceptance deadline was around April 1. Acceptance deadlines for scholarship/park recipients wer earlier than the regular one.

Key Take-Aways:

If you get scholarship money or the Park, your dates are likely to be moved up a bit.

They won't make you accept until after you know what your financial package is.

Disclaimer: I'm not at Cornell, this is what I remember from last year, I applied in R3, which may be different from R1/2. Also, they could have changed everything from last year to this year.

Please continue to check your online status a few times per week; the invitation to interview could be issued anytime between now and the decision date of Dec 7.
