so KROLL is not going to care? =) I was debating doing what you're suggesting, simply because some of these hr people are not going to get back to me in time, but i hope kroll doesn't care!
I own my own business so I know what Kroll does from a customer's perspective. All the MBA schools use the standard Kroll check. Chances are, you probably already went through a Kroll check already if you ever changed employers. I think there is a extra heavy duty background Kroll check that costs thousands of dollars. But using such checks does not make financial sense. Standard Kroll checks the following:
1)Every employer listed in your resume and application.
2)Your Education credentials (they make even skip this since every applicant must turn in the official transcript).
3)Criminal and probably Credit Check. (felonies, civil cases, bankruptcies, and your credit dings etc).
4)Publicly verifiable certifications such as CFA and CPA. They hardly check IT certifications because most IT certifiers require another layer of consent.
Most HR, in order to minimize liability, do NOT disclose your reasons for leaving and your salaries (starting or ending). In fact, it is common for HR to disclose ONLY whether you have worked for them and for what period.
In essence, if you have been honest in your application, you have nothing to worry about.
I just found out during my B-School application process that my official undergrad transcript says I graduated in June when I have listed my graduation date as May. No one ever even mentioned this discrepancy simply because it is not relevant. Someone may have mentioned it if I had the year wrong.
