Got my acceptance package/folder today. The letter said that there would be a scholarship letter included if one was awarded, so I take it I didn't get any money from Fuqua.

Did any R1 people get a scholarship letter?

FWIW, several people reported receiving calls about scholarship awards. Earlier this week I was told by someone at Fuqua that most awards had been made already and that everyone in R1 receiving a scholarship would be notified by tomorrow.

If you didn't receive a scholarship letter in your admissions packet, I think its safe to say you weren't awarded a scholarship. Hopefully my packet arrived in today's mail. I think I'm probably in the same boat as you, which raises all sorts of questions about the opportunity costs and ROI of attending.

I got a call today from my interviewer welcoming me and giving me some information about BDW, I was hoping it was a scholarship call, but sadly no...I'm guessing she would have mentioned it if I was awarded anything, so not counting on a letter in my packet. But I'm thrilled just to be accepted, so not complaining :)

I interviewed in NYC, and wore business casual. The interviewers had business casual.
Most kids were wearing business attire.

I got in; so take it the way you want. They wanted us to wear business casual to remove the stress out of the interview, however, if you feel more comfortable with your business suit, hey, do what you have to do.

This is true. I have a friend who graduated in '10 and she used to interview applicants as part of the Admissions team. She said Duke doesn't need applicants to wear suits; a shirt with dress pants and a blazer works just as well. However, from my experience, this is true only for Duke. Booth and Columbia for instance, expect you to wear proper business attire (read: classic suits).

Hi all,

Congratulations to all who's been accepted! Good luck to all with upcoming interviews! =D

I was reading through the forum and I think some people were talking about official FB group for 2013 class? I think this one is official... since it's created by current Fuqua students

Just search for: The Duke MBA - Daytime Class of 2013
<it's different with the group from this forum =) >

To those who are interviewing in NYC the weekend of 2/26-27 (or anyone in the area interested in joining) -
jaxny and I (hancy) are interested in meeting up on Friday 2/25. We have tentatively decided to meet at 7pm at a coffee shop/cafe near Broadway and 12th called The Grey Dog (https://thegreydog.com/). It will be great to not only exchange information about this process but also, more importantly, get to know like-minded future MBAers. Please PM either one of us if you are interested!

To the current students asimov or highhopes: How Mac friendly is Fuqua? I'd really be upset if I had to give up my 'nifty' mac for b-school.

It's mac friendly...a lot of people here have macs. There's pretty much no standard for laptops here and the office of technology will try to help out with most anything (from what I hear they're pretty decent with mac support).

I'm an international applicant from R2 and I was recently invited for an interview. I chose Saturday February 19th for my on-campus interview and I chose to participate in other activities too. I arrive to Durham Friday February 18th at 2:15 pm and I chose to participate in a session with alumni that same day at 4pm. I also chose a campus tour and a class visit which ends at 2:15 pm Saturday. My flight leaves also on Saturday at 5 pm.

Does anybody know if arriving to Durham (baggage claim, car rental, etc.) at 2:15 pm will take too long for me not to make the 4 pm session on Friday the 18th on time?

Do the campus tours and class visits take longer then the proposed time frame, possibly making me loose my flight back on Saturday?

You'll be fine. It takes about a half hour to get to Fuqua from the airport and RDU is small, so you should get your baggage pretty quickly.

Half of the school have macs. The only problem you will have is with Excel, which is required for Probability and Statistics. However, there are plenty of computers in the computer lab, or you can use a virtualized Windows with Excel.

You can do macros in the new excel 2011 for mac; making the mac version pretty close to the window's one.

Nevermind, looks like these are for the class of 2009. The thing that puzzled me was the fact that big-time bankrupt Lehman (went belly up in Sep.08) was able to hire grads at Duke as of 2009... Most probably that list of employers includes both interns and full times, and Lehman might have hired interns for the summer of 2008(?)

Just to add to what the current students have already posted above, I believe the admitted student guide also mentions that students can purchase discounted PCs and Macs through the school. I know the OP's question indicated he already had a Mac, but just an fyi for those of you in the market for a new laptop (like myself). I'm leaning towards buying a MacBook Pro, but will probably buy it at an Apple store (since I've got some store credit and I can get a discount through my wife's company). Does anyone know if there are minimum or recommended requirements (i.e. processor speed, memory, etc.) for our laptops?

Two quick questions -

1) Has anyone who was not invited when the invites for R2 were sent on 4th Feb heard anything from Fuqua since?

2) Can anyone with some historical background let me know if there have been cases when someone not invited initially was invited for an interview later in the same round?
