R1 wwwwwaaaaaaaaiiitttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttlister--- still waiting...
The waitlist pool must be huge! It seems odd there was no movement w/ the WL'er today...
Could the emails be hung up in the system?

I don't think it's odd - I think they're just managing yield by having a large waitlist, and will pull from the waitlist accordingly.

As for the updates, I agree - unless you have an obvious issue with your application, they don't serve a purpose. I think most people on the WL are from over-represented groups.

Nice, congrats - also, I received the financial aid email. Am I reading this wrong on the Fuqua website - does this not imply acceptance if you receive this notification? :

-----------------------------------------

Step 3: Receiving Financial Aid Award Notification

Students will receive a financial aid award notification once their need is determined. This award notification will include eligibility information for federal and nonfederal programs. It will also contain detailed instructions to follow regarding the student loan application process.

Financial aid award notifications will be sent to all awarded admitted students beginning in March 2011 for incoming students and beginning in May 2011 for continuing students. Financial aid awards will be made on an ongoing basis as FAFSA results are received by The Fuqua School of Business Financial Aid Office.

After students receive the award notification they should log into ACES and accept/decline their financial aid package. New students will receive their ACES log-in information in May. Click here if you would like to see instructions.

Pretty disappointing to hear that Fuqua let all of its WL'ers wait for nothing yesterday when they knew that there would be no movement. I mean, no one likes to press the refresh button for nothing for hours. At least they could've emailed everyone saying that opposed to their earlier notification email, no decisions regarding the WL will come out on May 9th.

I hope they know what they're doing. Managing their yield shouldn't be at the expense of a stronger class and a stronger alumni future network. The more they wait with a big WL, the less chances are stronger applicants from the WL will marticulate. It's quite obvious that stronger applicants will make other plans. I think they should be more bothered by that than a higer yield. But what do I know.

I just spoke with an admissions official this morning. If you haven't received an acceptance (or a denial), you are still on the waitlist. I agree that some kind of update online would have been reasonable... No real information conveyed otherwise, she seemed quite reticent about next steps. Updates can still be sent, other than that it's just a waiting game.

I scooted around last year's thread and it seems there was a slight flurry in mid-June and the final WL admits from gmatclub were early July. So that's the bad news. The good news is that one person reported having only 3 days to make a decision/deposit so they want to move quickly through the WL.

Sigh. :?

I just spoke with financial aid and they said that no financial aid email notification is sent unless there is an admissions decision. I have not been able to get through to the office of admissions, but basically the financial aid people said if you received a financial aid email, there was most likely a decision and if you have not seen that decision, something could have happened in communicating that decision.

They also said someone could have messed up. For some reason, my money lies with them messing up.

Wow, it seems many WLrs will be notified until mid-June or early July if admitted or dinged. What I don't know is if I should not send anything anymore so I don't overwhelm the admissions committee with unnecessary e-mails. I have already sent two brief, 1 page essays; one expressing new job responsibilities and community service involvement, and the other informing about a new job offer. On both essays I express my continued interest. But, 2 months without sending anything seems long and empty. Any thoughts?

Was just accepted off the waitlist! The person I spoke to said that they did not contact any WLers yesterday. It was only R3, but that there were some WL spots and that they will most likely be calling this afternoon.

Can you please share with everyone whether you sent any letters of continued interest or contacted admissions while on the waitlist? Thanks!

Round 2 WLer.

I'll give the quick run down of what I did:

-Update #1 (two pages - right when I was waitlisted to discuss work/EC updates)
-School Visit (2 weeks after waitlist - I made appointments to meet students, admissions, etc.)
-Update #2 (short - discussed visit)
-Letters of Rec (two workplace letters, as I had not used anyone at my workplace previously)

I did my best not to CALL the officers, but rather do everything through email as I've heard they get annoyed with actual phone calls.

Overall, seems like it's been an incredibly competitive year.
