@mbahubby: I believe the R3 deposit deadline is Friday, May 20th. Therefore, there's a possibility that people will be admitted off the WL as early as Monday, May 23rd. Also, based on your profile, I think I might have met your husband when I interviewed on campus in April.
My husband went on his interview at Duke on 4/11. Are you on the WL as well?

I am getting all these dates mixed up!! I am looking at all areas of potential schools so we can make a spilt second decision on moving, etc (not to mention I will need a new job!). I have this weird feeling my husband will have to take off before me to get to any orientations in time and I will have to finish up things back at our current home before meeting him wherever that may be. I think he was saying he would have to be at Duke by mid July if accepted...? On a postitive note, he just called me to inform me that one of the schools he has already gotten accepted at has offered him many grants and other options that would put our out of pocket cost for his MBA at $0. Pretty amazing, but we are turning it down because it was last on our list and he has been accepted to better schools which we hope pay off in the long run!!

Technically, he wouldn't have to be at Duke until August 1st. If he's planning on a concentration in the Health Sector Management program or Entrepreneurship he would need to be there earlier, but I think actually can do those requirements prior to his second year.

I believe the calendar is on the website.

Yep, his concentration would be in Health Sector Management.

For WL email updates the email address is: mbawaitlist@fuqua.duke.edu

Yeah - I think it's a requirement for HSM people to do the pre-course classes, but he can do those prior to his 2nd year, I believe, if admitted after the date this year.

I interviewed on the same day, so I am fairly certain that I met him. Yes, I am on the WL as well.

I do not have access to the numbers but I have been told by somebody, who has got connections, that very few people were interviewed and then admitted/WLed in R3. However, it doesn't matter if only 5 (random small number here so please take this with a grain of salt) people were WLed from R3 if none of those people get accepted at the end of the day.

Will you and your husband choose to go to any of the other schools that have accepted your husband if none of HBS, Yale and Fuqua can offer you a spot in this year's class?

Just got my acceptance to Booth yesterday so I will be withdrawing my offer from Duke. Hopefully that'll free up a space for the WLers out there - don't give up hope!

We will be going to Carnegie Mellon if none of our WL's work out. However, we are still holding onto some hope that we will get in. Personally, Duke is my favorite location as I want to move more south (not super excited about moving to Pittsburgh but CMU still is a great school).... And being that my husband is wanting to go into Health Management, Duke has the best program. Wish we had put applications in earlier and had a better shot. But, only on our honeymoon this past October did we discuss what would be our next steps in life and getting his MBA was on the top of the list. Got home from our honeymoon and he immeditely enrolled into GMAT prep courses and took the GMAT a few months later when ready..... by then R3 was the only choice. Don't want to wait another year.

Do you have schools to fall back on as well?

Same here. I had a couple of big trips that I had planned last year, so I never got around to deciding that I was ready for my MBA until around September. I took the GMAT and decided on the schools in December, which would not have given my recommenders enough time to send in the recommendation letters for R2.

I am in the sports industry, which is why Duke is my first choice. I have received an offer from Georgetown, which is a very good option for me because of their extensive network in the industry and the great attention that they give to inviting sports executives to speak and to actively getting the students placed in sports business case competitions. But Duke is by far my first choice... so I might wait another year since I don't hate my job anyway.

Congrats, youngn! I know everybody's probably thinking it but I'm not afraid to say that I hope I get your vacated spot. :)

The last email I got said that those of us still on the waitlist would be assigned admission counselors to assist throughout the summer. Has anyone seen this happen?
