I tried to get in touch with some current students/alumni of Duke, but without much luck. I have attended the Duke Info session held in my city, but could not connect with an Alum (preferably working in the energy sector). Even after writing to Duke (its been almost two months now) I have not got a reply.

I am seriously considering Duke given my interest in working in the energy sector (energy consulting) post-mba.

Any duke alums/current students on gc?

Thanks!!
:)

Fuqua does not have strong network in the energy sector. If energy is what you are interested in, I would recommend looking into McCombs, or even Jones (Rice) or Cox (SMU). If you are interested in energy, Texas is the place you want to be in.

If you are set on Fuqua, you can try to reach out to the officers at the Fuqua Energy Club (https://www.fuquaenergy.com).

Does someone know whether the interviewer has reviewed your entire application or just your resume?

Hi,

Fuqua interviews are blinde. That means interviewer will not have seen your entire application before the interview; she will only have your resume. Good luck.

My interviewer had a copy of my resumé, but he was reviewing it as we spoke... Of course he asked the "walk me through your resumé" question...

Good luck!

Does anyone know if you had your interview during the early interview dates before R1, does the school contact you to let you know if you would have been interviewed? Or are you just left waiting until the decision date with no idea if you are being considered or not. This seems very frustrating, because if you go with a regular interview and they invite you, you know they are interested. If you do the early interview and don't hear anything either way, you have no way of gauging their interest. Any insight on this would be much appreciated!

Based on what I learned from some current students, we just have to wait until decisions are released.
Yep, its one heck of a wait! :x
I cant imagine the torture during the final few days leading up to the deadline....

SIAP,

So it looks like Duke interviewed 53% of its applicants (admitted and denied) and then accepted about 24% of their applicants according to BW.

https://www.businessweek.com/bschools/ra ... fuqua.html

My questions are:

1) Is there a reason to expect those numbers to change this year?

2) Does the % of students interviewed include applicants who self-initiated their interview? If so, can we reasonably expect the % of admits to be higher for those applicants who were invited to interview?

The holidays coupled with waiting on b-school decisions must be making me a little stir crazy.

I have been arranged to interview with an alumni at my location. But the interviewer haven't contacted me yet. Should I proactively contact her before the interview?

@caitlin, I contacted my alumni first and then he replied in a day and then we fixed a mutually convenient date. So, I would say go ahead and drop a mail to the alumni.

The next week will be super busy for me at work. Is it OK to ask the interviewer to schedule the interview after a week, or should I ask him to tell me the dates when he's available and pick a date from that list? Thanks

I feel that you should leave this preference to the interviewer....

When I setup an interview for Booth, I gave my interviewer a range of dates that worked; She picked one from that. I don't think it's alright to ask the interviewer for dates.

Thanks guys, just wanted to make sure. The interviewer hasn't contacted me, so I intend to write the first email myself. So proposing dates that work for me even if it's after a week would considered Ok, right?
