Can someone confirm that the Fuqua interview is blind that the interviewer will only have read my resume prior to the interview?
Thanks

Yep, blind. And if on campus, it's with a 2nd year student.

Thank you. So it'll be be either an alum or admissions person if I interview at a hub city?

Good question. I'll have to defer to someone else since I interviewed on campus.

I believe hub cities are all alums. When I interviewed last year it was all alums

So you interviewed with Russell? I don't think he did any actual interviews here in Shanghai, must be more alumni with time on their hands down here

And no, I'm an American, but based in Shanghai. There was another prospective American student who interviewed as well, but the rest were all locals (about 20).

Then, count you in, there are three prospective American applying in Beijing & Shanghai, I never thought about that many interviewees either. It is said that only 20-30% of those applicants will be admitted. Let's hope for the best then.

I am Chinese, with some years of living in U. Personally, I prefer to speak with Adcom, instead of Chinese Alum. I've heard some people were challenged pretty badly by Chinese Alums.

Can you expound on this?

Did you mean to mention Duke's 25% acceptance rate?

Because from what I know, they interview around 55% of applicants. Thus, they accept almost half of the people they interview.

I know, but In China, I guess the ratio is significantly lower, can you imagine they would give offers to 30 people from Greater China area? that's nearly impossible. 1/3 most. I was told by admitted students at the interview.

I interviewed on-campus on Friday. It was a great visit, and a great chance to meet applicants and students. The second-year student interviewer here was friendly and conversational, not an interrogation (which is what it felt like at another of my visits...) Overall, the most impressive aspect of the visit was how friendly everyone was - I came away a big fan, and am excited to hear back.

Hey Guys - I have a question about the Facebook page for the 2014 class. I'm an admit and was thinking about signing up for the Facebook page. But there's something I need to know .. maybe FB experts can help me out here. I have a few office colleagues on my Facebook profile and I haven't really told anyone in office that I would be leaving in a few months. So if I signed up for this Duke page on FB, would it show up on my profile for everyone on my friends list to see?

I really want to join the FB page to get to know my future classmates and get in on all the action :) but at the same time do not want to let the news out to my colleagues/managers. Our company is going through layoffs and I might become an easy target if they knew I was going to leave anyway.

I know Duke is one of the schools that allow alumnis to "recommend" applicants. How important is that in the application process? I don't know of any schools that do that (at least they don't directly ask for it). I wonder whether lacking any recommendations will go against me. I do not have any strings to pull from Duke U.

Russell Davis told me that Duke values alumni recommendation very much.

I'm not saying that lacking of alumni is against you because adcom look at the whole package.

For this alumni recommendation, obviously there is the actual recommendation. But otherwise, does submitting a short letter from a Duke alumni or even using the fee-waiver as alumni support count? I can get an alumni to send a short letter in my behalf in a week or so, if its acceptable.

Yes, it is. I think alumnis can send two personal recommendations per year.

Hey not sure if anyone knows but what offices are the primary hiring points for Fuqua for Consulting? I've heard Atlanta and DC tossed around a lot, but what about NYC, Miami, Texas?

I know a second year who's going to BCG in Texas. Bain Texas probably recruits at Fuqua too. Rgupta83 should be able to give you some clarity on the NYC and Miami options.

Good luck with your interview on Friday, man!

Atlanta, Dallas, and DC are the big ones. But there are lots of Fuquans in consulting across the country. Fuqua is a "core" school for the Big 3 firms. At the end of the day, if they want you, the office location can be made to fit your preference.
