However, if they admitted 75-80, I would be pretty surprised if they had close to a 50% admittance rate. That seems extremely high. I would think around 300 is probably somewhere in range.

I forget if this was discussed earlier. I believe there was some mention about how EA was done. Does anyone know how/when decisions were released last year? Was it simply an email on decision day?

I'm guessing there are around 200 EA apps. That would be around a 38% admit rate (if they admitted 75-80 and had a yield near 100% since its binding). Considering that Duke's overall admit rate was 30% last year and I'm sure the binding EA admit rate is higher than the overall pool ~40% seems right. Plus the fact that Tuck has 150-175 EA apps I just don't see how Duke could get much more than that since Tuck's isn't even binding and Tuck seems like a school that more people would be willing to commit to early than Duke.
What I'm more curious is how many deferrals they have from last year. From the BW forums it seems like there were quite a few. If it's say 10% of the class that would lower the admit rate from 30% to 27% right off the bat. Add in an increase in apps and we're probably looking at an admit rate around 25% this year. Also, R1 will clearly be tougher this year since with the new EA round only 2 weeks before the R1 deadline we have essentially all admitted to Duke that they are not our clear 1st choice. Speaking of which I'm curious - how many of you listed a school that was clearly higher ranked than Duke in the other schools section of your app (an M7 or Tuck for example)?

, but they can probably also understand the idea of buying a lottery ticket.
